McCarthy's stock has risen since Harbaugh named him as the #1 QB of this draft. Post combines the picture will become clearer. I do see 6 or even 7 QBs being taken in the first round. Chicago, Washington, Patriots, Atlanta, Denver, Raiders, Saints. The Steelers, Bucs & Vikings are also in the market for QB but my guess is the Steelers will trade for Justin Fields, Bucs will resign Baker Mayfield and Vikings will sign Kirk Cousins.pfish57 wrote Wed Feb 21, 2024 3:37 pm:Seems like 2 months ago McCarthy & Nix were projected 2nd rounders, and now people are talking about trading up for them??? WTF

It’s so hard to say right now with the 2nd tier of QBs. The media makes it seem like every other team is gonna get FOMO and just scramble to move up for the next best QB.silver_ghost wrote Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:02 pm:McCarthy's stock has risen since Harbaugh named him as the #1 QB of this draft. If the FO gives away the farm to get into the top three, I'll be supportive of the move. If they hold tight at 13, I'm fine with it too. There's good arguments for either course of action.
I reserve the right to flippity flop anytime I feel like it.

They have been "rated" as 2nd rounds as well as firsts. The draft process is fluid and there isn't always a consensuspfish57 wrote Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:01 pm:Really well I stand corrected LOL

Yes, whatever the Raiders do, I will definitely support the move and hope for the best. That said, if they pick a QB at #13 or in the second round, I will hope they got it right but if they trade away a boat load of draft picks and get one, I will be they better have gotten it right mode.Opoponax50 wrote Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:54 pm:I've now passed into Whatever mode.

Caleb Williams is going without an agent. He is a maverick, I'll give him that!Willmark » Thu Feb 22, 2024 6:33 am

Teams are desperate and desperation makes teams silly. QB position is historically over-drafted and in the present passing league that the NFL has become it is only getting worse.rich72 wrote Wed Feb 21, 2024 10:44 pm: Thats what im saying, its crazy.

It sounds like he's going to be the type that's looking for more money every year. Tough to build a team with that as the "head of the snake".Amish Cabal wrote Thu Feb 22, 2024 6:32 am:Caleb Williams is going without an agent. He is a maverick, I'll give him that!

A player doesn't need an agent to negotiate a rookie deal. If Williams is smart he still engages someone to advise him on PR, and a lawyer for the finer contract details, but it's the second contract where an agent matters to a guy who's likely going first overall regardless.Amish Cabal wrote Thu Feb 22, 2024 6:32 am:Caleb Williams is going without an agent. With the news rules rookie contracts there are strict parameters as to how much a player can get paid. Here is what first rounders made last season. As per the rules you cannot negotiate more money beyond the parameters and a team cannot negotiate to pay less. And as far as I know all the money is guaranteed.chucker wrote Thu Feb 22, 2024 7:48 am:A player doesn't need an agent to negotiate a rookie deal. The only real negotiation ends up being around timing of bonus payments and offsets.signal wrote Thu Feb 22, 2024 7:55 am:With the news rules rookie contracts there are strict parameters as to how much a player can get paid. I think teams can give a rats ass of what Harbaugh thinks about JJ. I appreciate JH speaking good about JJ (thats his boy) but his cackling is meaningless and will go to deaf ears. QB's generally fly up the charts as it is the nature of the position. Its a commodity to have a franchise QB and several teams are in need and/or are always looking for that next stud.
