you're right. at the end of the day, Penix has just as good of a chance to succeed as any other QB taken in the 1st round... an honestly, people keep talking about how Chicago and Minnesota are good places for a rookie QB to land, how about Vegas?!?! I feel we are definitely built for a QB to come in and find success. The weapons are there, RB depth is there, and post draft, the O-line will be solid... hopefully.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 1:28 pm:It comes down to whether TT, Pierce and Getsy think Penix is The Guy. If he is, it's better to take him a little early than get cute, think "We can trade down and get him in the 20s," then have somebody snag him right before us.
And while I agree we need OL help, good RTs and/or interior linemen can be found in Round 2.

I think we are well positioned to grab a QB and let him sit. I think we have 2 capable (not studs) QB's in the fold. Whoever/whenever we draft our QB, hopefully we can quickly determine if he is a franchise QB. If he is, this gives us some time to build the team before his contract explodes. It really is a HUGE advantage having a stud QB on a rookie contract.SkullCrusher » Tue Apr 16, 2024 2:50 pm

... If you are weighing it against their QB track record maybe. Outside of that, they have very solid offensive weapons.SkullCrusher wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 2:50 pm:"people keep talking about how Chicago and Minnesota are good places for a rookie QB to land"
Chicago is the worst place any QB to land up to this point.

Their oline is decent too. And if one of the top 3 WRs makes it to them with their second pick, I think they'll jump at it.riseNraid09 wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 2:59 pm:... If you are weighing it against their QB track record maybe. Outside of that, they have very solid offensive weapons.

it's an excellent situation for a rookie QB. the more I have thought on it, the fact they signed Whitehair a week before the draft insinuates that Telesco may in fact be leaning towards grabbing a QB at #13chucker wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:03 pm:Their oline is decent too. I also disagree with the idea that the Raiders aren't ready to drop in a young QB - I think it's a good situation, despite some question marks on the oline at the moment.

Well the biggest thing I think that can only help a rookie quarterback if he landed with the Raiders is playing in a controlled environment more games than not. Las Vegas is indoors, LA is so that's more games than not ,that the elements you don't have to contend with.Attyla » Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:51 pm
I disagree, the biggest thing that can help a rookie QB is a solid offensive line. There is no factor that affects success than pass blocking. The number of games where the elements affect games is far secondary to protectionsdevilraid316 wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:48 pm:Well the biggest thing I think that can only help a rookie quarterback if he landed with the Raiders is playing in a controlled environment more games than not. There's also been very little Raiders chatter about JJ McCarthy. Could be a similar situation.DanKD wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:41 pm:Maybe. With the amount of smoke around Raiders and Penix with none about Nix, I almost wonder if they like Nix better or want a non QB. Its deception season after all.

If Al was in charge, I think it would be more accurate to say he would trade up to take Xavier Worthy.islandboy wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 5:12 pm:If Al was still in charge what would the odds be that he would trade up and take Joe Milton?
Hope I don’t get banned for Blasphemy.

From the JT video that was posted somewhere around here in some thread a while back. This regarding Williams...SkullCrusher wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 2:50 pm:"people keep talking about how Chicago and Minnesota are good places for a rookie QB to land"

Im not understanding what "organizational hurdles" Williams would have to "overcome" himself? Williams only job will be to learn the system, develop and perform. We are referring to the team that will be surrounding these rookie QBs upon arrival. Chicago, compared to Washington and New England, has a far better surrounding cast, and a coaching staff who has been prepared for their offense to be Williams led. Washington and New England are baron when it comes to talent. Sure, you could always pick a better landing spot for someone but, realistically, he's getting the best scenario out of the top 3 by far.16 to 88 wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 11:15 pm:From the JT video that was posted somewhere around here in some thread a while back. "Is it the ideal situation for him to go where he is going to go? Absolutely not." He also stated if he could pick a landing spot for him Chicago would not be the place and that he will have some real organizational hurdles he will have to overcome. Later on when they started talking about Nix and the possibility of him landing in Denver, wow, did he ever throw Payton under the bus. "I don't know if I wish it on anybody to go play for Sean". He then went on for the next couple of minutes tearing into Payton and the environment in Denver.

Yep, the OL is the engine of the offense. Without it a good OL both the pass and run game are going to be sabotaged.Attyla wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:51 pm:I disagree, the biggest thing that can help a rookie QB is a solid offensive line.
