Daniels could be a one year wonder he really only has had one year that he has put it together
Williams might not be mentally tough enough we’ve seen him crack in college when thing didn't go his way
Maye is inconsistent with his accuracy & timing
Is 3 really worth it?

O'Connell's arm isn't the problem. I think he's fine in that area.Raidernation1979 wrote Sat Jan 27, 2024 10:41 am:... the OC won’t make AO4 more mobile and won’t give him a bigger arm. Those 2 things are what they are

Yes with a perfect set up he was able to get a good one. His arm is adequate but he won’t be flinging and nice passes while on the run. Not only due to arm strength but also due to he doesn’t run.Spirit in Black wrote Sat Jan 27, 2024 11:26 am:I actually thought O'Connell's arm was a lot better than advertised. I mean all off-season we heard he lacked mobility(true) and an arm. But at no point did I watch this season and think he had trouble slinging it in the in the mid-range or deep ball.
I mean dude threw this from the 32 yard line to the 13 yard line. That's 55 yards in the air. Tucker could barely keep up.

With that said, I still want to draft a QB. His lack of mobility and pocket presence scares me a lot and I'm not sure how much he can improve on those things. We're also in a division with Mahomes & Herbert, we IMO need a generational QB to consistently compete and AOC isn't that. I hope we move up and give up what we need to give up for our guy.

He basically has to become the next Brady. He has to dissect defenses quickly post snap and have anticipation in spades. No his arm isnt the problem and would work for a mediocre guy. But he absolutely isn’t making a big throw without perfect footwork. He isn’t going to wow us with a 30-40 yarder by flicking his wrist. These are the things mahomes and Allen can do. Again I like AO4. Always said he should be in any competition but I don’t see him as more than a back up/spot starter.Opoponax50 wrote Sat Jan 27, 2024 11:44 am:O'Connell's arm isn't the problem. It's those goddamn cement feet. Some here have said that speed can be improved, but that largely applies to track and field stuff. So the question is whether he can learn to utilize his feet while holding a football under pressure and looking for a target downfield.
I just don't see it.
Movement in the pocket... he's shown he can do that, but can he do it to a degree that negates the advantages mobility brings?
Again, I don't see it.
As to his actual performance in season, here's what he learned and did best: don't fuck it up. If it's not there, throw it away. If a defensive player gets his hands on you, fold the tent and get on the ground. IIRC, he didn't turn the ball over once in his last four games, and that's pretty good for any NFL QB.
But again, that's not enough.
However, I do think he has enough to stick around in the NFL and earn a living for the next 10+ years as a viable backup.
Our Qb situation is currently fucked, so we may end up seeing him as our starter this year and the idea doesn't make me sick. It doesn't make me feel great either, but whatever. We'll see what happens.

Brady wasn’t mobile.bringdafunk » Mon Jan 29, 2024 6:04 am
Goff isn't mobile, Purdy can escape a pocket and get first downs which he did multiple times in the 2nd half. Prob the reason why they won.Be_Easy_25 wrote Mon Jan 29, 2024 3:30 am:Brady wasn’t mobile.
Manning wasn’t mobile.
Marino wasn’t mobile.
Phillip Rivers had an ugly throwing motion and wasn’t mobile.
Eli Manning wasn’t mobile.
Kirk Cousins isn’t mobile.
Nick Foles wasn’t mobile.
From HoF to HOVG to a replacement starter for a Super Bowl team, immobile QBs have had success at varying levels in this league.
There’s literally no reason to label this kid a back up or suggest he can’t be good, great or anything in between those because he is not mobile.

I like your thinking!Ismail86 wrote Fri Feb 02, 2024 5:36 am:Honestly, with Kingsbury, drafting the best tackle available in the 1st and Rattler in the 2nd is the best bet. Kingsbury is literally the perfect OC for him.

I hope they do whatever they have to to move up and get a qb, dont care who it is I'd be happy with Pennix even. Couldn't care less about picks ,there will be other drafts and free-agency.heavyD » Fri Feb 02, 2024 7:59 am
I’m of the opinion that if they are in love with a QB they should trade up. People worried about the cost should realize that the Raiders haven’t had a 1st round pick pan out since Jacobs. This organization has long been operating without the benefit of 1st round talent on the roster. Giving up an opportunity to draft the next Wilson, Leatherwood, Arnette, Abram, or Ferrell to draft potentially a franchise altering player is a minuscule price to pay.BotesBoats » Fri Feb 02, 2024 8:11 am
