Man, I did not know that. So he got off easy due to a mistake, a technicality. Well, it makes me dislike him even more. Our criminal justice system can be very precarious in most cases - on both sides of the law at times.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 12:22 pm:The problem was that Ruggs' Blood Alcohol level was measured using a blood draw taken under a search warrant, and apparently the arresting officer messed up the warrant. The trial judge allowed the test to remain, but the prosecutor said publicly there was a 50/50 chance the Appeals Court would throw it out. If they had, Ruggs would have been legally culpable for nothing more than Vehicular Manslaughter (as there would be no admissible evidence of impairment), and he would have been out in less than a year.
The plea deal they reached (10 years, up for parole in 3, with no Appeal possible) was the best they could do under the circumstances. And none of this, of course, will bring Tina Tintor or her dog back. RIP.

Oops. You misread what I wrote.RunOverByHubbard wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:25 am:Ruggs got just 3 to 10 years. His life is not over. I hear that Nevada courts are tough so I think Ruggs got off easy considering the circumstances. Now, psychologically his life could be over, but I doubt that too.

Co-sign....with a caveat....DrDUne wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:01 am:Somehow the Golden Knights don't have this problem.
Might be time for some personal accountability instead of blaming the city.

Being a die hard hockey fan..
It appears to me hockey players are cut from a different cloth. As a hockey player, you have to earn everything. And because it isn't at the top of the food chain in glorification......they are more humble.
At the same time....you don't put addicted gamblers in Vegas and not expect the temptation right?
When you put immature young people in an arena of vice.....you pretty much need to accept a certain % of fuck ups.

I don’t get this notion. If sombody wants to act a clown they can do it anywhere. If anything it’s the best place because the transport options are there for people getting drunk and messing about into the late hours.Amused To Death wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 7:56 am:Not the first time , won’t be the last time .

According to the report, Robinson hit someone with his car (at a low speed) and pinned her between his car and another. She apparently left the garage before the cops showed up, so we can assume she had no injuries.WolfRaider wrote Fri Feb 09, 2024 3:31 pm:What’s the information, I can’t access it from my location.
Also, heard rumours on twitter it was weed not alcohol he was under the influence of?

The mistake made by the police officer makes you dislike him more? That makes no sense.RunOverByHubbard wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:22 pm:Man, I did not know that. Right? I guess Ruggs was supposed to stand up in court and tell the judge to just give him 30 years, after all the cop made an innocent mistake.Dark Horse wrote Sat Feb 10, 2024 11:06 am:The mistake made by the police officer makes you dislike him more? That makes no sense.
