They said the team is "gathering information". And the charge was "suspected" drunk driving.JRaider17 wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 8:14 am:Surprised he hasn't been cut yet, maybe they are giving him another chance.

First offense. If he wasn’t driving like a maniac, this will blow over as a “lesson learned”. I hope. Still, some people just don’t get it or have fucked up impulse control.DrDUne » Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:01 am
Somehow the Golden Knights don't have this problem.Rdrfn64 wrote Wed Feb 07, 2024 1:11 pm:Living or even hanging out in Vegas doesn't help! 24 hr. 7 day a week party!

Along with a whole bunch of other people that live there.DrDUne wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:01 am:Somehow the Golden Knights don't have this problem.
Might be time for some personal accountability instead of blaming the city.

How dare you suggest people have agency over their own decisions.DrDUne wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:01 am:Somehow the Golden Knights don't have this problem.

Fully agree there are no excuses for stupid and dangerous behavior, this is entirely and completely on Robinson. The idea that the city he happened to be in shares any blame is ridiculous.Sir Raider Duck, OMS » Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:46 am
We couldn't cut him right now if we wanted to. At the conclusion of the regular season, all non-playoff teams' rosters are locked until the day after the Super Bowl. No transactions can be made during this period, which is why you see reports about guys being signed to "Reserve/Future" contracts: they can't officially join the roster until after Super Bowl LVIII. Every team eliminated from the playoffs has their roster locked after elimination, too.JRaider17 wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 8:14 am:Surprised he hasn't been cut yet, maybe they are giving him another chance.

Vegas may, on average, have more parties/nightlife, etc., but you can find trouble anywhere. I mean there are teams in New York, Miami, LA, ....DrDUne wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:01 am:Somehow the Golden Knights don't have this problem.

Ruggs got just 3 to 10 years. His life is not over. I hear that Nevada courts are tough so I think Ruggs got off easy considering the circumstances. Now, psychologically his life could be over, but I doubt that too.16 to 88 wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:20 am:When all of a sudden they bring a guy in that is whaling away screaming and causing a big commotion. The camera stops that interview and heads over to him to see what was up. The guy kept crying and whaling away uncontrollably saying my life is over my life is over. When they asked the arresting officers what happened they said he was intoxicated while driving and killed someone. I would estimate his age in his late 20's early 30's.

It really depends on whether he chooses to wallow in the despair of what could have been or chooses to seek redemption.RunOverByHubbard wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:25 am:Ruggs got just 3 to 10 years. There's not a reason to cut the guy (although as has been pointed out, we can't do it until next week anyway), gather information, find out what happened, and talk to the player about how he'll deal with it. Ruggs' offense was so extreme and I'd assume that this didn't involve the same level of recklessness or consequence or we'd have heard about it. He's a young guy who may learn from a mistake and be better as a result.Amused To Death » Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:49 am
Should of been 30-100 years .RunOverByHubbard wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:25 am:Ruggs got just 3 to 10 years. His life is not over. I hear that Nevada courts are tough so I think Ruggs got off easy considering the circumstances. Now, psychologically his life could be over, but I doubt that too.

I would have been OK with 30 years minimum. Gets out when he is in his early 50's and hopefully has matured, although does staying in a state prison for 30 years lead to a better, more mature man? Hmmmm... I know that sometimes there is not much "rehabilitation" that occurs in prison, but I also know that some people really do turn things around for real and re-enter society as a contributor not a detriment to others' lives.Amused To Death wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:49 am:Should have been 30-100 years .

The problem was that Ruggs' Blood Alcohol level was measured using a blood draw taken under a search warrant, and apparently the arresting officer messed up the warrant. The trial judge allowed the test to remain, but the prosecutor said publicly there was a 50/50 chance the Appeals Court would throw it out. If they had, Ruggs would have been legally culpable for nothing more than Vehicular Manslaughter (as there would be no admissible evidence of impairment), and he would have been out in less than a year.Amused To Death wrote Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:49 am:Should of been 30-100 years .
