That’s old school Raiders football. The damned refs will just manage us - keeping us down, by flagging us on every possible opportunity.GUYDON wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:41 pm:I might be crazy, but I think we are close. I think they are going to get some hard hitting, mean SOB's in here , building on what we have, and this team is going to punch opponents in the mouth.

League needs to go ref-less, all hi-tech instead. Take the human element entirely away from the crooked owners and commissioners who hate us forever.

The Lions have a scheduling advantage by playing a home game every year on Thanksgiving. They have never played in a Super Bowl.rich72 wrote Sat Mar 02, 2024 10:48 pm:Rome wasnt built in a day Ivan.

I think Las Vegas is a much better place for a young rich athlete than somewhere like Cleveland, or Baltimore. Those are hellscapes.Ivanavich wrote Sun Mar 03, 2024 1:28 am:The Lions have a scheduling advantage by playing a home game every year on Thanksgiving. They have never played in a Super Bowl.
2024 Raiders are the Lions franchise.
Players don't want to play football in a desert.
Las Vegas has a transient population. People move in for work. They stay about 20 years and leave.
The major industry is gambling = tourism. Game day crowds are heavily tourists. There will never be a "home town" crowd of more than a few thousand at a game.
The new stadium means nothing to elite FAs.
The lower state tax means nothing to elite FAs.
Every year there will be fewer Bay area Raiders fans who bother to make the trip, as the last Super Bowl team becomes ancient history.
Mark Davis made a deal with the Devil. He got rich, while the NFL got rid of a problem home city. If Davis was as football sharp as his dad, then he would never have moved into Las Vegas, where he can NEVER win consistently. He should have moved to Los Angeles... but was blocked by the other owners who didn't want the Raiders in a city where they could be a winning franchise again.
We are screwed, and no amount of fixing can undo the damage.
Dream on. Hope for that one random and unexpected Super Bowl run. It's all that we have left to dream about.
The AL Davis Raiders were buried with AL.

The only part of your rambling gibberish that's true here is your last sentence.Ivanavich wrote Sat Mar 02, 2024 10:11 pm:2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 - Raiders played in Las Vegas.
Total number of elite FAs signed pre-draft = 1, if you count the DE Chandler Jones. Otherwise, it's 0.
1. Elite Free Agents do not want to sign here. It can't be fixed.
The work around means trading for elite players, like they did to get WR Adams.
2. It also means Raiders can't draft a QB in the 1st round because that move means 2 tanked seasons and nobody wants to play with a rookie QB and tank seasons. They can't expect to keep their own FAs if they draft a QB in the 1st round.
3. NFL stopped calling penalties on the Raders in 2023, likely because of the research showing 4 Standard Deviations worth in one category of subjective penalties. My guess is that this penalty "moratorium" will last at most 2 more seasons.
So Raiders should go "all in" this season by bringing in 2 veteran QBs to be #1 and #2. O' Connell should be forgotten.
All this franchise will ever be is a .500 level team, on average, with the occasional wild card eligibility. Raiders fans... will they ever see the handwriting on the wall, or continue to dream of an elite QB on an elite roster?
We are what the record says we are. The NFL is swimming in former 1st round QBs who are bouncing from one team to another. Find one, no... find two. And keep doing it every year while the GM upgrades the rest of the roster.
The only hope is to recognize that Las Vegas isn't a football city and the Raiders are a top NFL draw just by going .500 every few years and signing vet players that fans recognize and will draft on their Fantasy Football teams.
Fans love Jacobs and Crosby, but the truth is that neither of them move the Raiders Super Bowl needle closer to GO.

Be careful when arguing football with someone who literally knows nothing about the sport. Remember the old saying about playing chess with a pigeon? Ivan is the pigeon.BoKnows81 wrote Sun Mar 03, 2024 3:58 am:The only part of your rambling gibberish that's true here is your last sentence.

Meh.... he has a different perspective and opinion, that's all. I sounded just like him for many years. Then, I just gave it up..... it's not my money and I don't own the team. Nothing that happens with the Raiders affects my life at all, so, I just decided to be a fan, root for my team and try to stay positive. Being a fan is a lot easier that way.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Sun Mar 03, 2024 7:27 am:Be careful when arguing football with someone who literally knows nothing about the sport. Agree. Finding an elite level QB would be great but to bank on it would be foolish. The Raiders have made great strides on D and should continue to aggressively improve it.rich72 wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:52 pm:We need to become a defense dominant team with a serviceable offense. When Ivan’s posts exceed a small paragraph i stop and put on my Ivan goggles. Those only have me read his very first sentence and very last sentence. Everything in between is blah blah blah….. It serves me well lol.BoKnows81 wrote Sun Mar 03, 2024 3:58 am:The only part of your rambling gibberish that's true here is your last sentence.

I will avoid the Ivan comments for now. I do not think there is one way to fix the team, but I do know that having an elite QB gives you the best chance at it. Building an elite defense is vastly more difficult and also harder to sustain. Getting an elite QB is a ticket to repeat playoff appearances. The problem is, getting that guy does take some luck and some outstanding talent evaluation. But once you get him, you can keep him even though the price is always high. Like it or not, that route sounds like the route Pierce is looking toward heading. Now it is about getting this one right.16 to 88 » Sun Mar 03, 2024 7:17 pm
Definitely the route TT is after as well. He out and out stated so.Attyla wrote Sun Mar 03, 2024 1:03 pm:I will avoid the Ivan comments for now. Yeah, not a fan of trading the farm away hoping he is the guy. Shanacan't who knows a thing or two about a QB was convinced Trey Lance was there future QB.signal wrote Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:11 am:Agree. I also think that a lot of games are determined in the trenches and think the first and best method of becoming a team that wins more games than they lose is to have dominant lines on both sides of the ball.
As for QB, you keep looking till you find one but it would be a mistake to go after one at the expense of continuing to aggressively addressing the D and trenches.
