I am in the same camp. I only saw him live for a little bits of games on TV and I was not impressed (and this was against Pac-12 teams, not SEC teams). Why is this guy the overwhelming #1 pick in the draft? But, then I watched his highlights and he was very good. He avoided the pass rushers with aplomb and has a very good arm and more importantly is accurate, the #1 trait scouts look for in a QB (over arm strength).Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:54 am:It's an open question whether Caleb Williams is "generationally talented." Personally, I see a number of red flags with his mental makeup and personality.

Generational talent my ass, that label is way over used.BoKnows81 wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:06 am:Imagine Raider fans cracking on likely generational talented QBs...

Could be overused but, it applies here. Doesn’t if some people are stretching the truth to fit their agenda about him & his mental makeup. If you wanna argue that he doesn’t, it’s by slimmest of marginsrich72 wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:49 pm: Generational talent my ass, that label is way over used.

that depends on how he is developed at the next level. We have seen that before. Imagine if Gannon had been developed early on instead of trying repeatedly to move him to safety. He would have a gold jacket. The Bears traditionally are not strong in this area.MexicanHulk wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:54 pm:Could be overused but, it applies here. Younger people use "generational" to refer to any player they think is good. It's annoying as hell.rich72 wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:49 pm: Generational talent my ass, that label is way over used.

Remember when Andrew Luck was described as "generational?" The only way he's getting into Canton is with a ticket.Opoponax50 wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:30 pm:Younger people use "generational" to refer to any player they think is good. It's annoying as hell.
I don't recall hearing the term until fairly recently--sometime in the last 10 years or so.
Anyway, the only players that can said to be "generational" are those who have achieved or will obviously HOF status. No punk coming out of college should have it applied to him.

Maybe you're not understanding. Generational TALENT. Not generational player. There's a difference. No college player can be considered generational without playing a down in the NFL. But their talent sure can be.Opoponax50 wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:30 pm:Younger people use "generational" to refer to any player they think is good. It's annoying as hell.

Huh? He was generational talent. He retired dude.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:47 pm:Remember when Andrew Luck was described as "generational?" The only way he's getting into Canton is with a ticket.

Is he a great talent? Sure. Is he the best QB coming out? Maybe. I just see red flags everywhere with him. He seems like he will be more trouble than he's worth. He reminds me of Lonzo Ball and his meddling father.Swagron » Thu Mar 07, 2024 4:54 pm
Kyler Murray was a supposed generational talent. It’s an overused label.Opoponax50 wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:30 pm:Younger people use "generational" to refer to any player they think is good. It's annoying as hell.

Im sure he is a fine player, but he has this, "Im going to do ot my way because Im special " that seems to wear thin pretty quickly.MexicanHulk » Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:20 pm
Oh, how he turns out in the NFL, I agree does depend a lot on how he’s developed.Attyla wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:12 pm:that depends on how he is developed at the next level. We have seen that before. No he effing wasn’t. If someone said it, they were dumb & in the extreme minority.Swagron wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 4:54 pm:Kyler Murray was a supposed generational talent. It’s an overused label.

He was & deservedly so. If Luck came out again or a player that had all his talent, you do everything you can to get him.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:47 pm:Remember when Andrew Luck was described as "generational?" The only way he's getting into Canton is with a ticket.
