For the purpose of discussion, they do have several other options.rich72 wrote Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:04 pm: The bears don really have a choice this season, to not take what most consider the best qb in this draft when you have the 1st and the 9th pick would be almost criminal.

To me generational is a guy that operates at NFL speed in college. There’s almost no adjustment required and they’re probably better pros than most pros… before they’re pros. They play QB beyond their years. That was Luck.16 to 88 » Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:07 pm

Which is why the entire NFL wanted to draft Mahomes, an obvious “generational talent”.raiders93 wrote Fri Mar 08, 2024 7:14 pm:To me generational is a guy that operates at NFL speed in college. I see Williams as more boom-or-bust. His scramble ability is special and gives him a higher upside than most QBs. But the ability to operate at NFL speed is unknown. And that’s the same reason mahomes wasn’t considered generational. The fact that he could make the impossible plays was never in question. The fact that he sees things so quickly - it wasn’t obvious he had that in college.

I think that’s revisionist - hard to argue a guy was a generational prospect when he wasn’t even the 1st QB taken in his draft. Unless trubisky was also a generational prospect.GoodTimeCharlie wrote Fri Mar 08, 2024 9:07 pm:Which is why the entire NFL wanted to draft Mahomes, an obvious “generational talent”.

I believe Luck, your “generational talent”, and Williams, your “boom or bust” candidate, are both tied in Super Bowl wins. With Williams edging out Luck in breaking said tie.raiders93 wrote Sat Mar 09, 2024 6:31 pm:I think that’s revisionist - hard to argue a guy was a generational prospect when he wasn’t even the 1st QB taken in his draft. If he’s drafted by Chicago he will never live up to the hype. QB’s never flourish there.srv5490 wrote Fri Mar 08, 2024 6:10 pm:Once Caleb Williams makes the world forget about Patrick Mahomes, we can discuss him as a generational talent. Until then, he is not.

Yeah I’m not gonna argue that there’s lots of buzz terms.GoodTimeCharlie wrote Sat Mar 09, 2024 9:12 pm:I believe Luck, your “generational talent”, and Williams, your “boom or bust” candidate, are both tied in Super Bowl wins. With Williams edging out Luck in breaking said tie.
All labels placed upon these QB’s are empty talking-head word salad.

I was being cheeky. Williams has the better chance of winning a SB, cause Luck had too much stuff between his ears that caused him to value the stuff between his ears and retire.raiders93 wrote Sun Mar 10, 2024 8:19 am:Yeah I’m not gonna argue that there’s lots of buzz terms.
Let’s just say I don’t recall mahomes having the level of hype coming out of college as guys like Luck, Lawrence, Burrow, etc…
The Super Bowl win thing is a garbage arguement. By that measure Trent Dilfer was a better QB than Dan Marino
