I think its also on the free agents end too. Offers are still out there but guys also want to wait for the draft. Who wants to sign a team friendly deal to have them draft someone who send you to the bench. Guys who are signing the 1 year value deals want an opportunity to play and potentially cash in next year.silver_ghost » Fri Apr 12, 2024 1:20 pm
I would feel a lot more comfortable if we signed a starting right guard and a linebacker to relegate Luke Masterson to a backup role. He is a below average linebacker. Also, his backup Darien Butler has to be worse than him. Both lack size and athleticism.signal wrote Fri Apr 12, 2024 5:00 am:Looks like TT like many other GMs are in pause mode till the draft. It looks like he will wait to see exactly what players he is able to draft and then go about addressing those positions still in need of an influx of talent after the draft.
The draft does seem to postpone some of the free agency action because GMs simply do not know exactly what positions they will be able to address in a draft. I don't think any good GM goes into a draft thinking I will pick this position in the first and this one in the second and this one in the third and so on, because he has no idea how the players will fall and who might be able available to him in any round.
Good GMs don't go into a draft to simply pick positions, they go into a draft to pick players.
So, while we are in a long dry spell right now, something tells me that right after the draft, free agency will pick up a bit again. While it might not be as busy as let's say the first week of free agency was, I do think it may be a bit more busier than it has this last week.

Your third LB is a backup these days. I think Masterson offers enough for that role. I can see Pola Mao with a bigger role this year as a S/LB hybrid.silver_ghost wrote Fri Apr 12, 2024 1:20 pm:I would feel a lot more comfortable if we signed a starting right guard and a linebacker to relegate Luke Masterson to a backup role. TT has time still. I think most if not all of us would feel better about entering the draft with more holes filled, but I think he is approaching things in a methodic manner so as to get the best bang for his buck and think his patience will pay off.silver_ghost wrote Fri Apr 12, 2024 1:20 pm:I would feel a lot more comfortable if we signed a starting right guard and a linebacker to relegate Luke Masterson to a backup role. Parham is listed a 285, James at 300 so the other 2 starting IOL are smaller OL; I wonder if that is what they want also at RG or if they now look to go bigger. Meredith does fit the size profile, I don't expect them to plan to go with Meredith but it will be interesting to if they stick with the smaller IOL profile.chucker wrote Thu Apr 11, 2024 6:23 am:Agreed. He seems underpowered though and I think he'd struggle vs a dline with bigger stronger players, which the Chargers didn't have in his one start.

Or to see who misses out on a position and then ups their offer.

Sometimes, I come across words spoken by professional athletes and I shake my head and at other times, I am happy they just happen to be on the team I cheer for. This quote by AO4, makes me happy that he is a Raider.KillerRaider30 » Sun Apr 14, 2024 5:35 am
I agree with you guys.rich72 wrote Sat Apr 13, 2024 1:55 am:This is one of the worst times of the year, the wait. We arent making anymore moves until after the draft for sure, unless they do something stupid.
