With the way contracts are going up 8 million per year is pretty cheap, centers arent super easy to find.NoThanksSir wrote Sun Mar 10, 2024 3:57 pm:Gross overpay. Not a James fan

I liked Parham at center, i thought he did a good job and could grow at that position, then again i have nothing to do with running the team.Fade2SilverAndBlack » Sun Mar 10, 2024 5:11 pm

Doesn't have to Andre James did well in Tom Cable ZBs scheme and will do well in the Luke Getsy's Wide Zone where his athleticism and quickness will help him. He struggled in McDaniel's scheme which was mainly power blocking - they ran some zone but not much. After McDaniel was gone in the last three Raider games we saw them run more Zone & saw the running game improve. I expect him to have a good year both pass & run blocking.BoJacksonRules wrote Sun Mar 10, 2024 2:47 pm:Hopefully he’s added 10+ lbs of muscle and morphed into a road-grader. If not he will continue to get owned by C. Jones.

I have never been wowed by Parham but maybe I have just not focused on him enough. I guess he is going to play LG and he is entering his prime, so I am relying on management to get this right (aren't we all?). It is seeming more and more likely that we draft a guard in the first three rounds and we should be able to get a good one. They may even do it in the second after they get their hopefully stud rookie the first.srv5490 » Sun Mar 10, 2024 5:19 pm
Anyone who thinks we could have gotten a comparable center at a similar cost is looking at the situation through rose colored glasses.BoKnows81 » Sun Mar 10, 2024 5:48 pm
Well there almost certainly would of been a stud there at 13 in JPJ.srv5490 wrote Sun Mar 10, 2024 5:19 pm:Anyone who thinks we could have gotten a comparable center at a similar cost is looking at the situation through rose colored glasses.
OK, that was more of a joke than a football opinion, and probably not a very good one. I'm good with the move, though.

Not a fan of James but if the Raiders moved Parham to center, they were going to have to sign a LG either way and in free agency it's highly unlikely they were going to get an average Olineman for cheap. The only thing that gives me some hope is that James is only 26 and can still get better.16 to 88 » Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:19 pm
His calculated market value was actually above this amount before he signed.GUYDON wrote Sun Mar 10, 2024 3:02 pm:Lol, 8 mil a year for James. Hum

I was wrong about the $10M cap hit;DrDUne wrote Sun Mar 10, 2024 2:58 pm:Time for him to step up. Read year 1 is $10M against the cap…which accounts for ~20% of their current cap space. We’ll see if that’s accurate.

I kind of wanted Parham at center with a new nasty guard, but I don’t dislike James at all.Want more bulk on Parham if possible.Ivanavich » Sun Mar 10, 2024 9:17 pm
Raiders were able to beat the Chiefs in KC with a practice squad level QB.KillerRaider30 wrote Sun Mar 10, 2024 3:56 pm:Good resign
James has gotten better every year and he's entering his prime at 26. Maybe not better to the eye but stats say otherwise. 3y 24 and read it could be 2y 16 so a good out for the Raiders.
Besides I really like keeping teams together. I hate change
