I didn't mean to portray them as the same draft, just wouldn't include in any list anywhere as part of a "top ten" anything in drafting.cannon33 wrote Mon Apr 29, 2024 7:39 pm:Where do you see them in the same draft ?

That would have been so deadly. Roman was pretty damn good for a few years there. Alworth needs no accolades from me, the league took care of thathaji81872 wrote Mon Apr 29, 2024 3:17 pm:In 1962 we drafted Roman Gabriel and Lance Alworth.

Actually he was that good & the Rams would’ve taken Seabass in the 1st. Fg% doesn’t mean as much when you’re kicking in Oakland, plus coaches are gonna put you out there for long FG’s constantly.Jeevo wrote Mon Apr 29, 2024 12:52 pm:He had the big leg but he wasn't really that good, he's not top 50 all time fg% (Carlson is currently 5). Just too early to take a K.

where a team would have taken a player is not the basis for talent. He was a talent in college, he should never have been a first rounder. Just because another team would have fucked up does not justify us fucking upSloth_Fratelli wrote Tue Apr 30, 2024 4:27 pm:Actually he was that good & the Rams would’ve taken Seabass in the 1st. I like Carlson, I hope he retires a Raider & sets all the kicking records, but look at where he gets to kick.

Yeah , what a mistake, so many Raider first round draft picks have 17 year careers.Attyla wrote Tue Apr 30, 2024 4:46 pm:where a team would have taken a player is not the basis for talent. wrong, special teams account for far less than 1/3rd of football. They account for about 5 minutes of playing time, and Jano in particular was not especially accurate. His "big foot" offset by that inaccuracy.cannon33 wrote Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:52 pm:Yeah , what a mistake, so many Raider first round draft picks have 17 year careers.
Special teams being 1/3 of football is meaningless and counts as nothing .
Too bad the Raiders didn’t make more mistakes like that .

It was a brilliant pick !Attyla wrote Wed May 01, 2024 3:12 am:wrong, special teams account for far less than 1/3rd of football. They account for about 5 minutes of playing time, and Jano in particular was not especially accurate. His "big foot" offset by that inaccuracy.
Are you seriously justifying taking a part time player in the first round?
Attyla » Wed May 01, 2024 4:45 am
If you were right, 1/3 of all players taken in the first round would be special teamers. In the last 5 decades, there have been two.cannon33 wrote Wed May 01, 2024 3:44 am:It was a brilliant pick !
Exactly who I wanted Davis to take , and he came thru !
I wish all first round picks would play 17 years .
That would prove you made a generational selection !
