Except the situations were dynamic and always affecting different teams at different times so nothing was “the same”. I like Hondo. I feel he gives out genuine, honest information and is easy to listen to. Good for my drive home from work stuck in traffic and still 55m away mindset. to be determined, we first need to find out if the defense was a one and done or if it was real. Teams knew our offense was not going to score a lot of points so they could relax their offenses a bit. ...Here is what Wasserman had to say about the Raiders' defense and why the unit breathes optimism into Las Vegas' 2024 campaign:
Fortunes changed immediately for the Raiders last season when Antonio Pierce took over as the head coach. He knew his first task, of course, was to fix a defense that posted the fourth-worst EPA allowed per play through the team’s first eight games. Pierce commandeered an immediate turnaround that was, at times, startling to watch.
From Weeks 9 through 18, Las Vegas’ defense ranked ninth in overall grade, fourth in run-defense grade and fifth in EPA allowed per play. Maxx Crosby is perennially great, but major contributions from Malcolm Koonce, Jack Jones and Robert Spillane, among others, gave the Raiders new life on defense. There is hope the team can compete for a playoff spot this season despite a questionable quarterback situation.
Las Vegas' defense has mostly flown under the radar nationally this offseason.
The defensive line, led by Wilkins, Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce, will be a matchup nightmare for any offense and has the potential to be elite, both against the run and pass. Though he had a lackluster rookie season, former No.7 overall pick Tyree Wilson could develop into a talented and versatile freak on the defensive line to make the unit even better...
