It's ridiculous to even report it since there is ZERO pads so far. Are they still learning the system and getting in sync? Sure. But we don't know anything yet, there was a report Max and Wilkins were in the backfield all day. It's stupid, there is no contact. That means nothing. It would even be dumb of them being disruptive at this point. Pads end of July.GUYDON wrote Fri Jun 14, 2024 5:55 pm:I keep seeing how the offense struggled, and they have every right to at this point in the game.
What I'm not seeing is people talking about our defense smoothering them.

It is reasonable to think the offense will be on the bad side of the bell curve considering all the newness. And the expectation that the offense will be out of sync into the season considering we are putting the ball in the hands of a pair of day three draft picks and asking them both to master that new system and become leaders on offense, that is a reasonable expectation. But your point is also valid, we know next to nothing other than both guys have been in the QB room learning the newness. Hopefully the learning curve is short livedSkullCrusher wrote Sat Jun 15, 2024 2:47 pm:It's ridiculous to even report it since there is ZERO pads so far. my answer, in truth, is no. Until we see them put it together consistently and we see what we saw for a brief time in the locker room we would be living a lie. Optimism is based on a belief, it is not based in reality. Reality is, we have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the league, hell in sports. Two flawed playoff berths in over 20 years, 8 or so playoff berths in 30 years. The reality is, we have had an existence based on false prophets touting our greatness and hope. Great, have hope, I go into each season with hope that the next clown is gonna get us right. Maybe this clown has the secret sauce. Fine, prove it. That is the realist in me. I am not pessimistic, I am a realist. Show me and I believe. anything short of that? Get the fuck out, you are the next king or clown based on the results and not just a few games, hell no, and not based on one season. Show me sustained change and I will buy in. Sport is a results based business. and for the last 30 years we have been dangling a sign out the door, "going out of business" and that is the reality. Turnip may make a ton of money, good for him. But not a dime is because of me. Even the tickets I own to the NO game are secondary market. He got not one red cent from me.Oaktown Superman wrote Sat Jun 15, 2024 3:55 pm:Ditto

My first ever game i watched in any sport was the “Mistake by the Lake” and I saw the Raiders helmet and that was all it took. I was a fan that very moment at only 9. I say this to say I’ve seen the ultimate high (2 SB wins) and ultimate low(2-14, taking Russell # 1 overall…ugh!!!), and everything in between. I want to be optimistic but the last 20+ years has left me protecting myself like an armadillo by rolling up in a ball. I liked the ending of the season, but even that was 5-4 and a 3-0 loss at home to the Vikings. I’m not buying the hype they have a top-10 defense. Things ebb and flow in sports, so I think they’re closer to 15-20 than 10, but I’m armadilloing(a new verb ha ha), to protect myself.Attyla wrote Sat Jun 15, 2024 4:14 pm:my answer, in truth, is no. I'd also count the first Chargers game. I've never suspected a coach of sabotaging a player, but that's exactly what it looked like to me (McDickface sabotaging O'Connell).KillerRaider30 wrote Fri Jun 14, 2024 7:22 pm:I disagree Epps is average but everythingis accurate as i see it.
Also 10 wins is 2 more than last year. McDaniels cost us more than 2 games. Hoyer? Really? That's one.

Exactly what I saw in that game.Opoponax50 wrote Mon Jun 17, 2024 10:35 pm:I'd also count the first Chargers game. I've never suspected a coach of sabotaging a player, but that's exactly what it looked like to me (McDickface sabotaging O'Connell).
Anyway, I remember the very first offseason magazine I bought when I was 10. That was back in 1980 and I don't remember the name of the magazine. IIRC, they picked the Raiders to finish 7-9. That prediction aged like a fine turd in the sun.

The 1980 season was a season of change. Pastorini was our starter but he went down paving the way for Plunkett. Had we stuck with Pastorini, that 7-9 record was likely dead on. But Jim had gotten his chance to heal up and get his mind set to the Raider way of playing and took us back to our style of ball, and even then we were the wildcard.Opoponax50 wrote Mon Jun 17, 2024 10:35 pm:I'd also count the first Chargers game.
