During JJ's rookie year, I said he was the best back we have drafted since Marcus Allen. I still think that is true. He has some remarkable runs. But -- injuries, maybe moodiness. and I don't know the guy but he never seemed that into being a Raider. It is probably just his demeanor and he will be exactly the same in Green Bay. Anyway, w/out a very good QB to go with him, we were not going to see him be a hero RB for us in the playoffs.rich72 » Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:33 am
Kaufman was better and more electrifying than JJ.RunOverByHubbard wrote Sun Jul 14, 2024 5:42 pm:During JJ's rookie year, I said he was the best back we have drafted since Marcus Allen. ...I get this, for sure.....i'm about a half hour out of buffalo, ny, and while the winters are a challenge sometimes, supposedly, the summers are the sunniest and driest of any major city in the northeast, and i'm a half hour from one great lake, and about 45 from another,....FLORIDARAYDAH wrote Sat Jul 13, 2024 4:18 pm:It's been averaging around 110 the last week in Vegas I'm sure the weather is upsetting him about his decision

I don’t really have any issues with his comments but I wish players were a little more honest. He’s not a Packer because they afforded him the best opportunity to win. He’s a Packer because they offered him the most money. Had the Panthers offered him $50 million with $25+ million guaranteed he would have been talking about how excited he is to play with Bryce Young and how he’s looking forward to helping the Panthers become a winner. I don’t think he disparaged the Raiders in anyway, he just wasn’t completely honest about why he’s a Packer today.RunOverByHubbard » Mon Jul 15, 2024 9:40 am
When I said best other than Marcus, I also thought of Kaufman. I agree he was more electrifying but I posit that JJ is a better back. He breaks a ton of tackles, can slither through small holes, makes people miss, and is just plain hard to tackle. Kaufman was always a threat to go all the way, which JJ is not, but overall, I give the edge to JJ. Both were good but not great receivers -- not in the league of say Charlie Smith, Clarence Davis, or Charlie Garner.rich72 wrote Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:33 am: Kaufman was better and more electrifying than JJ.

I don't blame him for moving on, but holy shiiite, have I lost a ton of respect I had for him because of his mouth. Can't he just STFU already and move on? I would have wished him well and success, but at this point, couldn't care less either way. I liked to watch the guy as he could sometimes be quite dynamic, and I would have looked for highlight of him and wished him the best(unless playing us) What I want most, is to stop hearing from him now!raiderkoch » Mon Jul 15, 2024 11:06 am
Was one of my favorites to watch, because every time he got the ball, you never knew what he might do! Loved that I got to meet him, hang out a little and tell him that(and he retired too early) after he retired too! Good guy.rich72 wrote Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:33 am: Kaufman was better and more electrifying than JJ.

Garner was definitely a top-tier receiving RB, but the other two? Not even close. Clarence Davis had horrible hands, and he would be the first one to tell you that. I don't remember much about Charlie Smith, but his receiving stats don't outshine Jacobs'.RunOverByHubbard wrote Mon Jul 15, 2024 9:40 am:Both were good but not great receivers -- not in the league of say Charlie Smith, Clarence Davis, or Charlie Garner.

That's big fax. If Kaufman had this Raiders team we'd have made the playoffs twice as much.rich72 wrote Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:33 am:Kaufman was better and more electrifying than JJ.

good idea to look up their stats. I was going on what is now ancient memory -- my first decade as a fan and how Al Davis was an early adopter of using RBs out of the backfield and Smith and Davis were spotlighted. I don't remember that C. Davis had "horrible" hands but if he did, the Sea of Hands catch agains Miami is ironic as well as iconic.srv5490 wrote Mon Jul 15, 2024 7:29 pm:Garner was definitely a top-tier receiving RB, but the other two? With the Raiders:
Clarence Davis: 88 games, 99 receptions, 865 yards.
Charlie Smith: 91 games, 141 receptions, 1596 yards.
Josh Jacobs: 73 games, 197 receptions, 1448 yards.

Kaufman was indeed electrifying the real issue was that the Raiders were so ill-disciplined and committed so many penalties that some of his most electrifying runs had to be brought back. That notwithstanding, have people seen Zameer White - he looks so strong that he will be one load to stop. In addition, Luke Getsy in his interview was saying that he didn't expect him to be this speedy.BlackShield wrote Tue Jul 16, 2024 4:48 pm:kaufman was electrifying...barry sanders, chris johnson level electrifying...saw several games in action...
but jj was [is/] a better all-around back. as long as he isn't nicked up.
thanks for your raider service and good luck to him in gb, i always give grace when a player goes to the other conference...won't potentially have to see him until the big one if all fell into place the raiders make it that far
