Yeah, late in the game the field goal puts us in a situation where a Chargers field goal puts us behind by more than an 8 point TD again. When you're that close go for it, and if you do have great faith in your D then trust them to get a quick stop if you fail to convert.Raider727 wrote Wed Sep 11, 2024 2:00 pm:You're down by 9 in the 4th qtr. You're in the redzone and it's 4 and 1 and decide to go for a fg with 10 minutes left. Then your in Raiders territory down by 6 and it's 4th and 1 with 7 minutes left and you decide to punt.
Now all the chargers have to do is pretty much get a fg in their next 2 drives, even if the Raiders score a td and the game is over. You'll be relying on an onside kick recovery and a long fg still.
AP was probably better off kicking a long fg instead of punting on 4th and 1. I think AP doesn't trust his offense much, he needs to tell Getsy to be more aggressive on offense, especially when playing from behind.
I'm over this past game now, hopefully the Raiders get their shit together vs Baltimore.

He was running for his life for a good part of that game he's the 2nd to last guy im blaming for that mess, the O line wasn't good enough to be called shitty.Raiderfanrich wrote Wed Sep 11, 2024 2:06 pm:The fumble by Minshew turned the game.
Personally, I have zero confidence in the guy - I think he stinks. I would much rather see O'Connell play.

^^How can you win with a Captain Dink-An-Dunk like Minshew?riseNraid09 » Wed Sep 11, 2024 6:32 pm
I would have no problem with AOC playing QB. Thing is, I really don't know how much the result would differ due to poor O-line play. That will always hold back the offense, regardless of how many skill position players we have, or who's under center.16 to 88 » Wed Sep 11, 2024 7:48 pm
Yeah, I don't think that knucklehead goof by him all on it's own turned the game as there were quite a few points in the game along with that tremendous backwards pass that added to it. With that said he's been in the league for quite sometime now and I can only speculate but it seems to me nervousness lead to that. Even if the guy you expect to throw to is not there you have to keep your wits about you and it appears he didn't.Raiderfanrich wrote Wed Sep 11, 2024 2:06 pm:The fumble by Minshew turned the game.

It's always interesting how you read things. I read it he can do more but our offense as a whole didn't allow it.mranquales wrote Wed Sep 11, 2024 6:14 pm:^^How can you win with a Captain Dink-An-Dunk like Minshew?

Bulldog posted the Tape Don't Lie video. The play where Minshew scrambled and failed to get the first, there were 3 receivers wide open, including Mayer who had a small db to beat on his way to 20+ yards on a wheel route. Minshew is terrible bro. He missed wide open receivers all game.SkullCrusher wrote Wed Sep 11, 2024 7:49 pm:It's always interesting how you read things. Minshew played his best football at my alma matter, his last NCAA game incidentally was an Alamo Bowl win over Brock Purdy. Now, I bit I am a bit of a homer but...The kid can play and his intangibles are off the charts. I see a lot of similarities between Minshew and Rich Gannon, when Gannon was in his younger years playing for the Vikings.Raiderfanrich » Thu Sep 12, 2024 1:21 am

Yes - there were a few other points in the game that added to the mess but his backwards pass fumble was the catalyst for the collapse in my view. It was annimportant moment. We could have closed out the half that drive, got ourselves points and then double up by receiving the second half kickoff. That fumble lost us posession, gave them a possession and points and swung momentum their way before the half. It was huge.16 to 88 wrote Wed Sep 11, 2024 7:48 pm:Yeah, I don't think that knucklehead goof by him all on it's own turned the game as there were quite a few points in the game along with that tremendous backwards pass that added to it. If they didn't call the phantom hold on White by Mayer it's highly doubtful that he fumbles the next play, that is, if we ran the ball at all because we had just gotten a first down. I'm still perplexed by them not taking a look at the Dobbins first down at the end of the 3rd. They had the entire time from the 3rd to the 4th quarter to look at and did nothing. I don't think he ever made it. Then there was the 1st down non challenge that they didn't bother with either. Very strange. The 4th and 1 punt was incredibly aggravating and downright baffling at the same time. Makes me wonder if the booth came up with an analytic call down to AP and he went with it instead of trust his gut.

We got a new OC…and a new QB….I thinking the team has about maybe two dozen plays that they use in charger game; the playbook will get expanded but right now everything is new….Raiderfanrich wrote Wed Sep 11, 2024 2:06 pm:The fumble by Minshew turned the game.
