Actually, Barkley seems to be doing quite well, don't ya think...and Zeke wasn't exactly a bust. But I'll counter anyway by listing several that did and were taken in the 1st round.;CWood24 wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:49 am:How did drafting a “generational RB” work out for the Cowboys, Giants & Rams. Elliott, Barkley & Gurley were all Jeanty before Jeanty
Isaiah Pacheco a 7th round pick did more for the Chiefs than a 1st round pick in Edwards-Helaire,.
Jeanty is a great talent but facts are that outside of kickers & punters it is easier to find starting RB’s after day 1 even day 2 than possibly other positions.
We’re nowhere near ready to draft an RB in the 1st, we need to fix a lot of problems before we take what could be construed as a luxury pick

Great work by the front four and their coaching staff, but let’s not forget that Mahomes did have some time a lot of the time but could not find an open target and then the pocket collapsed or he was running for his life. IOW, the coverage was excellent by the back five. The Eagles have assembled a lot of talent on defense and also were well prepared for the Chiefs intricate and tricky offensive play calling that Reid has been so darn good at. Yes, the front four was outstanding but a lot more when into that domination.Ocoordinator » Mon Feb 10, 2025 5:32 am
Having any player at any position excelling at their job is a luxury in my mind. A luxury as in you don’t have to worry about upgrading and can focus on other areas.raidersince63 wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 5:10 am:Actually, Barkley seems to be doing quite well, don't ya think...and Zeke wasn't exactly a bust. ***Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, LaDainian Tomlinson, Edgerrin James, Saquon Barkley***
Jeanty a "luxury pick" ?...as has been said before, the Raiders were "dead last" in rushing last year...how is that not a major "problem"?
We can cherry pick all we want but the fact is ALL draft picks are risks and there have been many players at all positions who were hyped before they were drafted but didn't pan out and conversely, many players that were not well known before they were drafted who are now in the HOF.

The defensive line was more responsible for what happened last night to Mahomes than the secondary. More times than not the pocket was collapsing around him and rather than looking downfield he had to find escape routes to scramble. The defensive line won that game for Philly. They completely dominated the Chief's OL all night.RunOverByHubbard wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 5:28 am:Great work by the front four and their coaching staff, but let’s not forget that Mahomes did have some time a lot of the time but could not find an open target and then the pocket collapsed or he was running for his life. Don´t really see it as a luxury pick, a good running game is a QBs best friend I look at players like Saquan, Jahmyr Gibbs , James Cook, in the playoffs of late and they are all huge impact playersCWood24 wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:49 am:How did drafting a “generational RB” work out for the Cowboys, Giants & Rams. I’ll see your list of 1st round stars with a list of flops - Ki-Jana Carter, Lawrence Phillips, Trung Canidate, Trent Richardson, Alfonzo Highsmith, Blair Thomas, Tim Biatabutuka.raidersince63 wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 5:10 am:Actually, Barkley seems to be doing quite well, don't ya think...and Zeke wasn't exactly a bust. Both times Philly won, deep, deep defensive front 4. Brandon Graham was a part of them both. You even look at why Eli Manning won 2 SBs....their front 4 pressure on Brady both games in the 1st quarter. Kryptonite for NFL QBs, is that biological clock they have in their heads, you can rattle them early. Al Davis said it best, the QB must go down early in the game.Bama_Raiders wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 6:18 am:The defensive line was more responsible for what happened last night to Mahomes than the secondary. ....that blueprint was drawn a long time ago, they just had the pieces and were able to execute it to near perfection, yesterday.Ocoordinator wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 5:09 am:Blueprint was drawn yesterday on the Chiefs. Very simple really, don’t let him get comfortable back there to pick you apart.
I think it’s possible the chance of Ward or Sanders falling to 6 are more likely than Carter or Graham now.
raidersince63 » Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:28 pm
Yup, that same "blueprint" was apparent the last time the Raiders beat the Chiefs a couple years ago...we harrassed Mahomes all game and our offense kept him off the field. It was also apparent in the Chiefs that we blew near the end with a fumbled snap that prevented a game winning FG...same formula, control the ball and time of possession which keeps the Chiefs' offense on the sidelines.WNYRAIDER wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 2:49 pm:....that blueprint was drawn a long time ago, they just had the pieces and were able to execute it to near perfection, yesterday.

I'm getting a gut feeling that if Graham and Carter are off the board the Raiders draft Jalon Walker LB. Georgia.Sir Raider Duck, OMS » Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:50 pm
If Graham and Carter are off the board, Hunter or Johnson will be available. Pete loves his DBs.Rabid Raider wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:43 pm:I'm getting a gut feeling the if Graham and Carter are off the board the Raiders draft Jalon Walker LB. Georgia.

After yesterday. I think teams want pass rushers who kick ass. If the choice was between Johnson and Walker I think they go Walker. We may have a free agent QB by the time we draft and get a second tier guy later by passing Sanders if there. Ward will be gone for sure.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Mon Feb 10, 2025 3:50 pm:If Graham and Carter are off the board, Hunter or Johnson will be available. Pete loves his DBs.

Seems like a horrible draft for The Raiders . . .raidersince63 » Mon Feb 10, 2025 4:37 pm
