First off I always believed the best Qbs are basically pocket passers first to be clear. But if you look at playoff teams, especially ones that go deep in the playoffs, the QB has the legs and power to get critical 1st downs and even touchdowns. Look at the QBs in the playoffs who didn't have "legs". All going home.haji81872 » Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:23 pm
I heard a rumor he was posthumously promoted.rcraider wrote Tue Feb 11, 2025 8:48 pm:"Lieutenant Dan"

We’ve already experienced 9 years of a QB folding under pressure. For once, get a TOUGH guy under center.

I think everyone would. One is a FA and one isnt. I dont see Stafford going anywhere unless contract talks get uglyNoClapsPlease wrote Thu Feb 13, 2025 6:41 am:If we go the vet route, I rather have Stafford instead of darnold

Definitely. Which would be good and bad. Have to pay him the tag number, but it is only for one year. Unless he would say we would have to give a new contract, which I am not sure he has the leverage to do that.chucker wrote Thu Feb 13, 2025 7:55 am:The Darnold conversation changes a lot if they tag him and are open to a trade. Suddenly the dollars start at the tag number, and there's trade compensation involved.

Exactly, I would rather have Josh Allen instead of Darnold, however I don't see that happening.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote Thu Feb 13, 2025 7:17 am:I think everyone would. One is a FA and one isnt. I dont see Stafford going anywhere unless contract talks get ugly

I don't know what the Vikings will do. They have enough cap space to carry a franchise tag salary as long as they want to facilitate a trade. Daniel Jones might have a bearing on the situation as well - if he likes the idea of rehabbing his career under O'Connell then he might sign an extension and hope to hit the market in 2026, and that might tip the scales for the Vikings to just let Darnold walk and get their comp pick for him. Jones might also prefer to go to a team that didn't just draft a QB in the first where he might have a chance in a QB competition.haji81872 wrote Thu Feb 13, 2025 8:04 am:Definitely. So a one-year prove-it deal with a high contract number and probably a fifth-round pick.
Hope they don't tag him, which I don't think they will, but you never know.

I'd much rather go forward with a guy like Stafford than a guy like Darnold.GUYDON » Thu Feb 13, 2025 10:44 am
I dont want Darnold at all. If he has a really good lile, he is fine, but get any pressure on hom and he can be pretty awful.BoKnows81 » Thu Feb 13, 2025 11:26 am
Who's calling Darnold a bridge QB? You're paying him that money as a franchise QB. It doesn't mean we still don't draft a QB. That's been the problem with this team. Neglecting the position.Be_Easy_25 wrote Thu Feb 13, 2025 8:58 am:I'd much rather go forward with a guy like Stafford than a guy like Darnold.
We are kidding ourselves with some of the Darnold talk.
You don't hand someone $100 million and call them a Bridge QB.
