Normally, if an incoming HC keeps one of the coordinators, wouldn't that coordinator mostly keep his remaining staff?chucker wrote Wed Feb 12, 2025 9:25 am:Most new head coaches don't keep anyone, other than maybe low level assistants. It shows the confidence Carroll has in his own leadership ability that he's keeping senior guys like Graham, Leonard, Philbin and Steckel.

Good question. I'm not sure of the answer because I'm more familiar with new coaches replacing the coordinators - often with really shitty coordinators (Guenther for example). I hope that Carroll and Graham worked together on staff selection. With Carroll coming in, it would certainly give Graham a chance to revamp his staff without looking like a leader who fires everyone because it could be viewed as the new head coach's plan.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Wed Feb 12, 2025 9:32 am:Normally, if an incoming HC keeps one of the coordinators, wouldn't that coordinator mostly keep his remaining staff?
Unless, of course, Graham's assistants were hired by McDaniels originally and Graham was "meh" on them staying except for Leonard.

Agreed, I mean lots of WTF moments from a game management stand point, starting out the gate in the opener against the Bolts. I watched Incarnate Word a few different times. That offense could put up points in a hurry.chucker wrote Wed Feb 12, 2025 3:24 pm:Full coaching staff formally announced yesterday...... not so fast, they're not done yet.

Yeah I've seen a few really talk him up. Seems like we added two good up and coming coaches in this hire and the RB coach. The Duke wrote Thu Feb 13, 2025 7:01 am:Benjamin Albright raved about this guy on X, FWIW

Totally agreeheavyD wrote Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:21 am:I try really hard not to indulge into the offseason Kool Aid but this is the most optimistic I've been in a while in regards to how the Raiders are being run and operated. Team still needs a QB but this has to be one of the highest quality Raiders coaching staffs I can remember.

If the plan is to groom a young successor to take over in house when Pete retires, McQueen could be the guy. Apparently, he turned down interest from other NFL teams this offseason, but chose to come to the Raiders. Definitely an interesting hire. Love the fact that we've been dipping in the NCAA ranks, instead of the normal route of hiring retreads off the scrap heap (which so many vet coaches favor). The Duke wrote Thu Feb 13, 2025 7:01 am:Benjamin Albright raved about this guy on X, FWIW
