The Raiders are paying Wilkins $84 million guaranteed and Crosby wants a new contract. Garrett will likely want to renegotiate his contract with the team trading for him and then there’s the 1st round picks the Raiders would have to give up. Oh and the Raiders don’t even have a starting QB. It’s just not a good fit for either party.

The raiders have too many high priority holes to fill. They can’t just throw draft picks at a single player. If the team was set at the other critical positions and just needed one elite pass rusher to become a Super Bowl contender then sure. But right now they desperately need a functioning Oline, a lead RB and a high quality QB. None of which they have now. Improving the offense will be its nature improve the defense.

I think Myles has 5 years in him. He’s not a normal athlete. If he declines, he’s declining from a 99 athleticism to a 95.

He’s asking out, so I am wondering what it does for his price tag.

17, 16, 16, 17….those are his last 4 seasons games played,

If it’s a Mack package? Pass. We do need the picks to fill our roster.

If it’s A pick? I’m intrigued.

I agree...if we do decide to keep Max, teams will do what they've been doing which is to double team him much of the time...putting Myles Garrett on the opposite side of the would negate that strategy.

The Eagles definitely raised Garrett's value in trade and salary yesterday. There will be teams that suddenly decide that just outscoring the Chiefs isn't the only way. You'd better also have some good coverage guys too, if you're planning to smother the Chiefs like the Eagles did though.

The recipe for beating Mahomes has been out there. If you get a good and consistent rush from your front 4 (not from blitzes), have speed in the middle of your D, and good coverage, he is beatable. Unfortunately, it is easier said then done. PM really did not have a typical season because D's are getting a little smarter. KC has been taking away from their D (not resigning or trading players) to feed their offense. They have been lucky to get away with it because their D is still very good. I am not saying this because the Eagles dominated them, but they do have their warts.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go # 1 overall. Climbing from 6 to 1 to draft a DE isn’t ideal. Those types of trades are usually reserved for QB’s. I prefaced that remark with usually.

The Athletic has a piece where they go back through big name pass rushers and Garrett is exactly at the point (year 9) in his career where production slips. Maybe he’s an outlier but the article has a chart and all but one player declined ant year 9 and it’s pretty steep for most of them.

Garrett is one of 16 defensive linemen in NFL history with at least four Associated Press first-team All-Pro selections across his fourth through eighth NFL seasons, per Pro Football Reference.

Of those 16, Garrett is among 11 whose Year 8 production — as measured by PFR’s Approximate Value metric — did not fall substantively. Those elite players’ season-level AV in Years 4-8 declined over their ninth through 11th seasons in all but one case (Randy White).
