After multiple years of loaded quarterback classes, the NFL Draft will take a step back in 2022. However, for NFL teams needing a new franchise signal-caller in the near future, the 2023 NFL Draft quarterback prospects are next-level. It’s an elite group of characters. Let’s run down the top players — in tiers — as the 2021-22 season comes to a close.Ivanavich » Fri Feb 04, 2022 3:56 am
QBs from Alabama, Ohio State and South Carolina.Atlasffa » Fri Feb 04, 2022 11:18 am

Not sure of your metric. How have QBs from Notre Dame, Stanford, Texas, Washington, etc done lately? Is there a school that is putting out the QBs the way Penn State used to put out linebackers? Why do you name South Carolina? The last So. Carolina QB drafted was Todd Ellis by the Broncos -- in 1990. Before that, it was some guy drafted by Miami --in 1976. So, why are they overrated? RE: Ohio State -- they have had three QBs drafted high in the recent past. Fields - I would say the jury is still out. Haskins - you are probably right. Terrelle Pryor -- didn't you like him? Let's look at Alabama. The last recent high picks - Mac Jones - way to early to say if he was overrated. Tua -- hmm.. you could be right, but wasn't he showing signs of getting it in just his second season? Not attacking you Ivan -- just trying to follow your logic/opinion.Ivanavich wrote Fri Feb 04, 2022 3:56 am:QBs from Alabama, Ohio State and South Carolina.
Don't hold your breath on any of them. Over rated.

I think the club signs Carr to a long term deal by the draft. When this happens, I don't see them taking a QB, short of an UDFA.Jeremyturner1976 » Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:06 am
Kind of a double edged sword for sure. I still love the breakdown, thanks Black Soul and Chucker btw.eastcoast128 wrote Thu Feb 24, 2022 10:41 am:I think the club signs Carr to a long term deal by the draft. When this happens, I don't see them taking a QB, short of an UDFA.

Don't forget that our new regime comes from the Pats, who've been drafting QBs throughout Brady's career - using 2-4 round picks for a number of them. It seems like they drafted one every couple of years.eastcoast128 wrote Thu Feb 24, 2022 10:41 am:I think the club signs Carr to a long term deal by the draft. QB is by far, and it is not even close- the most important position in football. And of the major sports, probably the most impactful position. I guess goaltender in hockey is another one.chucker wrote Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:10 am:Don't forget that our new regime comes from the Pats, who've been drafting QBs throughout Brady's career - using 2-4 round picks for a number of them. I saw a tweet that said the Pats have drafted a QB in 5 of the last 8 drafts, and that McDaniels drafted a QB in each of his two drafts in Denver. It certainly seems to be something that's a priority in their eyes, even at times when they have a future HOFer still at the top of his game.signal wrote Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:23 am:QB is by far, and it is not even close- the most important position in football. Not to draft a QB who you think may develop when he falls to you would be asinine. If the QB position is that important why would you not want depth? Plus, if he develops, he can be used to gain further draft capital down the line. I never understood this whole thing about avoiding QBs in the draft...almost at all costs. The Raiders now have a coaching staff that has experience with developing QBs and not to take advantage of that would be silly.
I am not saying this new regime will definitely pick a QB in this draft, but I do have a feeling if one they like falls into their laps, do see them taking one. I would be surprised if the Raiders do not take a QB somewhere in the next two drafts. Ziegler would be wise to get Josh a young QB that he can develop and the quicker he can do that, the better.
