Hc/gm are going to be held to a higher standard. They are supposed to be setting the example. Urban caught a bunch of shit for dry humping some chic at a bar. Kraft getting tug jobs. Fair or not, they're going to be treated differentlytactician wrote Sat May 27, 2023 8:50 am:Let me ask you this. If Gruden was frequenting strip clubs, would that warrant firing as well? Players throw entire parties at strip clubs. Help me split the hairs of your complex moral system.

that was not me being on a high horse. Those were facts.tactician wrote Sat May 27, 2023 6:49 am:Do you need any help getting off that high horse?
no evidence of that.Raider_Len wrote Sat May 27, 2023 8:29 am:Wasn’t he forced out by the NFL, via Mark Davis helping him save face by “quitting”?, or “mutual agreement “, or what ever that was?

When fishing with buddies I always say, at least once, that our mothers and wives would be shocked if they heard a recording of everything we said. And I'm about as far from being the typical Neanderthal on these things as you can get.Attyla » Sat May 27, 2023 10:00 am
not apples to apples. He goes into a strip club, he is viewing women who consent to be seen without clothes. He received images and did nothing to stop the transmission of women who did not consent to this. It is a pretty big difference. Consent is a big deal.tactician wrote Sat May 27, 2023 8:50 am:Let me ask you this. If Gruden was frequenting strip clubs, would that warrant firing as well? if you are fishing with your buddies, what you say would be protected by the first amendment down here in the states. If you transmit images or say them on an employer email,, you are not protected by the first amendment.Jeevo wrote Sat May 27, 2023 9:54 am:When fishing with buddies I always say, at least once, that our mothers and wives would be shocked if they heard a recording of everything we said. I disagree with your position regarding the degree of punishment. In my view inappropriate behavior of this sort does not warrant the ending of a career as Gru was essentially forced out. Discipline...Yes. This was behavior that became public and was unbecoming of the institution of the NFL and embarrassing to the team. IMO a suspension and/or fine in this case would be more appropriate than ending a career.Attyla wrote Sat May 27, 2023 6:38 am:I disagree and it is not the NFL that is involved. It is the Saints. NFL never disciplined him, he quit. Being involved in emails of the type he was involved with was highly inappropriate. Receiving naked pictures of women who did not even know they existed and did not sanction transmission? Let alone the comments he made? That is embarrassing and he should have quit

he received no discipline. He quit. He got another, maybe temp, job. I am not saying the guy should not work, I have never said that. If he was asked to resign rather than be terminated, that was not going to make him unemployable. The NFL never fired him, he was not working for them. He quit the Raiders, he has gotten a job with the Saints. He lost 2 years worth of his time working in football. What happens from here is on him.Commit2Excel wrote Sat May 27, 2023 10:33 am:I disagree with your position regarding the degree of punishment. You're pretty much always protected by the first amendment and Gruden's actions were as well. The government did nothing so the amendment was upheld.Attyla wrote Sat May 27, 2023 10:04 am:if you are fishing with your buddies, what you say would be protected by the first amendment down here in the states. But in this case, thus far, neither person was disciplined by their respective employers, both resigned.. Now, don't get me wrong, Washington was going to drop the hammer, that was a certainty. I am not sure Mark was going to. Maybe he was but I wonder if he was looking for an out for Gruden.

of course since he resigned. If he had not, the first amendment would not have applied since he used a corporate email account. He very well could have been fired for cause and he would not have been protected by the first amendment since that amendment does not apply.Jeevo wrote Sat May 27, 2023 11:01 am:You're pretty much always protected by the first amendment and Gruden's actions were as well.
