It will be interesting to see how it works out. Watch the changes the XFL are implementing this year and watch them show up in the NFL in the next couple years.
The pull of the outfielder is a bit of a work around but it still is gonna change how teams approach their at bats. Pull hitters are going to find their BA going up and in some cases significantly.
I watch a lot of baseball and the shift forced pull hitters to change their approach. It was good for baseball in that pull hitters were reduced in effectiveness and they had to learn how to actually hit the ball correctly or they became situational hitters.
I know all these rules are designed to speed up the game because fans do not have attention spans anymore, but my best memories are sitting in the stands, munching on peanuts in the shell and spending time with everyone enjoying the games.

last year 31% of the time vs lefties. Slightly less against righties. watch the pull hitters batting averages go up. Also watch more pull hitters scoring averages go up. the pitch clock is going to be a factor but the shift works and without the shift, poor hitters are going to affect the games significantly more.Sold My Soul wrote Sat Feb 18, 2023 10:54 am:Won't matter anyway, Baseball Savant and Fangraph data says it's a wash when utilized.

it is, but a lot of those guys were never actually taught how to hit so they fail to get it down and keep it inbounds successfully. Watched quite a few Dodger games last year and the Giants actually beat the Dodger shift more than once laying down good bunts. The DH rule was a change that I expected and was surprised it took so long. I really don't have much of an issue with it. I am a purist with baseball and actually have more of an issue with having a DH at all. The history of baseball was that pitchers took at bats. The AL changing that back in the day does very little in my mind to make the game better. This new extra innings thing though?
