Truth be told, when we got away from amateur athletes and went all in on professional athletes, I lost interest. Wife is 100% into everything especially the opening night and closing ceremonies. I'm not watching yet but my wife is already saying "WTF" regarding the opening ceremonies......and she lived in France for well over a decade and knows the language, history and culture.Dr Death » Sun Jul 28, 2024 5:42 am
Your wife isn't the only one saying WTF? I won't watch a minute of it after that.Xramfan wrote Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:40 pm:Truth be told, when we got away from amateur athletes and went all in on professional athletes, I lost interest. Granted I'm on vacation with my family right now, but I've never have had any interest in the opening ceremonies and didn't watch them. I've seen bits of previous openings, though, and I can imagine. They seem to have become some kind of abstract art contest. More power to those that enjoy it, but I'm only interested in the sports.Xramfan » Thu Aug 01, 2024 11:42 am

In the past the opening ceremonies were always about pageantry and a "taste" of the host country and their history and culture. Compare below to the shit sandwich France served up. Speaking of shit sandwiches, France had to order 1000s of pounds of beef and eggs, as they tried to force the Olympians to eat vegan food and fake meat, clearly the woke Olympics have arrived.Xramfan wrote Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:40 pm:Truth be told, when we got away from amateur athletes and went all in on professional athletes, I lost interest. One more just for fun when a country had a sense of humor. If you watch it "Mr. Bean" actually went on his twitter account and posted "I'm bored".Dr Death » Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:50 pm

Sadly two people with X, Y chromosomes will take gold and silver and the best female boxer with x, x chromosomes in the world will take bronze.Dr Death wrote Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:50 pm:No s***. It's disgusting.

I have issues with transgender females competing with biological females, but that doesn't seem to be the case here, at least with Khelif, who has got the most attention. She was listed as female on her birth certificate, and it appears that the campaign against her started with Russian psyops.ermis » Wed Aug 28, 2024 11:16 am
Personally my favorite combat sport is the oldest one, the wrestling. Great athletes, amazing techinque, clear rulessrv5490 wrote Mon Jul 29, 2024 4:31 am:The one sport I really miss is boxing. Maybe it's still there, but if it is, it's not like it used to be. Olympic boxing used to be like college football where you could see all of the future stars get the first major exposure.

Good call! There were some good matches vs the Soviets back in the day. Rulon Gardner's win in 2000 was awesome. We had a couple of gold medalists (the Schultz brothers) come out my high school, but they graduated the year before I got there. Same high school that produced Devante Adams.ermis wrote Wed Aug 28, 2024 11:16 am:Personally my favorite combat sport is the oldest one, the wrestling. Great athletes, amazing techinque, clear rules
Boxing is great too but something needs to change
