Don't take JJ away from my Wolverines a year early!Atlasffa wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:01 pm:Not his best game. I'm starting to think patience, and waiting until 2024 might be the way to go, especially if JJ McCarthy declares for the draft early. That kid has the "it" factor.

I think Young is okay. His size is concerning to me. I'm not convinced he would be a big enough improvement over what we all ready have. JJ McCarthy is 19 years old. NINETEEN. He plays in the biggest house in America in a highly competitive Big 10 East conference. He's had some off moments, but he just doesn't blink. He took the starting job away from Cade McNamara, who had a decent year in 2021. JJ just has that elusive "it" factor that you pray your first round QB has. Coachable, teammates love him, charismatic, accurate, cannon for an arm. Will get a little bigger--he's 6'3" 197--and will get smarter. And it pains me to say all this because I hate UM.HesterLayes wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:06 pm:Houston will take Young, but my some miracle he is there you wouldn’t want him?
I'd love to see him leave UM early! LOLHellbound wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:26 pm:Don't take JJ away from my Wolverines a year early!

No where did I say sign expensive free agents. Thanks for laying out the obvious for me, it really helped. Ok got it, don’t use useful tools online that are free, thanks.Ivanavich wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:18 am:I continue to wonder why you believe that Z is going to sign a bunch of FAs.
They don't need any expensive FAs next year. Next year you draft, trade and bottom feed for back ups again.
Z doesn't use Spotrac, so neither should you.

I don't mind waiting a year or even two, but it is basically impossible to target a future QB as there are zero guarantees we pick first. This same argument was offered about Lawrence and other QBs, while other teams have found players better than our guy without having to deal with the terrible experience we had by 'sticking with mediocre'.Atlasffa wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:30 pm:I think Young is okay. Young not good enough to get Alabama into the National Championship playoff.Atlasffa » Sat Nov 26, 2022 2:35 pm
Yeah, it's hard to plan for a current draft, much less one that's two drafts away. It would take a lot of trading picks down to garner more, trading players for draft picks, drafting smartly in later rounds, etc., and hope the guy you're targeting stays healthy and continues to grow as a qb. Somehow--well, actually getting a GOAT QB in round 6 who plays for a couple decades is a good start--the Pats have been able to maintain winning teams without vying for top round 1 picks. If only Raiders could master the art of the draft.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 2:13 pm:I don't mind waiting a year or even two, but it is basically impossible to target a future QB as there are zero guarantees we pick first. If we had multiple first stockpiled, absolutely, I think we could reasonably expect it, but we just don't.
That said, I have zero problems giving Stidham a year and trying our best to get that top pick. I am also on board with trying for a vet, just as long as they are cheaper. Garrapolo at even 20 gives this team more wins than our current QB, inuding this year, and I will die on that hill.
I just don't want a 130 million dollar offense that plays like a 50 million dollar offense. Not when we have a defense as bad as we have.

Kid from USC is great and will go number one barring injury.Jeremyturner1976 » Sat Nov 26, 2022 2:49 pm
I think we have a great spot for any QB though as it sits. Even giving it a year he should be sitting pretty.Atlasffa wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 2:35 pm:Yeah, it's hard to plan for a current draft, much less one that's two drafts away. Stroud battled. Michigan looks to be the real deal again. Not sure how anyone cannot like what Young is doing, monster first half. Admittedly, against a weak team but that is what great players do against weak teams. Levis looking better.Raidernation1979 » Sat Nov 26, 2022 2:52 pm
We continually wonder who would be a good fit with this team and weapons. We would never get the answer but I wonder if any rookies or even potential free agents are sitting back thinking “man that team is solid with offensive players. I’d love to go there and compete”Atlasffa » Sat Nov 26, 2022 2:52 pm
