Steelers,Saints and the Browns are just three teams on the top of my head that would love to have Carr.Rainman56 » Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:31 pm
Good luck with the Steelers and Browns...I'm sure their well versed on cold weather and Carr. Not a good combo and too far away from his Southwest comfort zone imoRaiderandBulldog wrote Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:24 pm:Steelers,Saints and the Browns are just three teams on the top of my head that would love to have Carr.

This title made me jump for joy until I read the rest. Don’t get a man’s hopes up.raiders93 » Tue Dec 14, 2021 9:39 pm
I could see the perception of Carr being a poor mans stafford. Much like the Rams didn’t seem too bothered by a lot of losing seasons in Detroit…. I don’t think other teams will hold Carr too accountable for our records the way fans do. “It’s the Raiders…” kind of thing.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:19 pm:At this point if the loser finds a way to win somewhere else, good on him.
We tried, wasn't it something like 5 coaches now? None of them could get Derek Carr to play to win. When the going gets tough, Carr is the last person you want leading your team. Maybe the Saints can fix that and I wish them luck. 5 chances is enough from us.
I also wish Attyla was wrong, I do not think he is.

Unless the Raiders are the team choosing the draft picks, then it doesn’t really matter.Opoponax50 wrote Tue Dec 14, 2021 5:24 pm:Whatever. Talking heads don't watch every snap of every single game. And as we've seen, fans are oftentimes more right about the draft than even the NFL teams that employ professional scouts. So Cowherd's opinion of Carr doesn't carry that much weight.
However, a complete team who believes themselves to be in a post-season to Super Bowl window, but is lacking a QB (see New Orleans), would give up something good for Carr.
Two firsts? Maybe. I'd take a first and a second. But two firsts... damn. Trade away Waller and we could be looking at 5-6 1st rounders in the next two years; 7-8 total picks in the first two rounds. That's pretty damn good if you're rebuilding.

I hope he does retireRaiders Baby wrote Tue Dec 14, 2021 6:33 pm:I’ve never seen him look so defeated. His face says “I want to retire”. Would not shock me at all, and as you said, a fitting end to this saga

I believe four of the last five seasons he has personally crumbled at exactly the second the word playoffs are mentioned. Stafford never crumbled.raiders93 wrote Tue Dec 14, 2021 9:39 pm:I could see the perception of Carr being a poor mans stafford. While nobody’s mistaking Carr for Rodgers… there’s also not an easy way to upgrade from bad to average at QB. The draft is a crapshoot and free agency is basically useless for starting quality QBs.
If you’re a team like the Steelers or Saints that have great rosters but bad QB play holding you back - a guaranteed solution that gives you average play at worst has a lot of value.
Whether a trade happens or not…. Let’s see who the new HC/GM is. Could see a young “hot-shot” college coach wanting his guy. Could see a more conservative mind thinking he’ll be the one that succeeds with Carr. Either way I’d agree with cowherd - there’s probably a nice trade there for us if we want it

I said it in the chat a month or so ago. If people don’t think that GMs look at Carr and see Stafford (at least), they are high. Stafford had never had a win (or something along those lines) against a team with a winning record. Lions fans called him Stat Padford.26 docofdeath » Wed Dec 15, 2021 3:19 am
IF, the Raiders could get at least a #1 abd#2 for him I think they would do it.Rainman56 » Wed Dec 15, 2021 3:59 am
Stafford has far better/more intagibles.toughness, leadership and isn't conservative by nature when playing.I honestly don't think you can use his trade as a gauge for Carr as the Rams were desperate to trade Goff and with his massive contract the Lions knew they were one of the few teams that could fit it in their cap space...Gotta respect Stafford for the way he went about asking for a trade...Guy is a team player and a standup guy.CarboRaider wrote Wed Dec 15, 2021 12:18 am:I said it in the chat a month or so ago. Yet he was considered the piece that could push the Rams over the top to win a ring.
There are teams that are a QB away and would back up the truck for a QB like Carr - Panthers, WFT, Broncos (wont happen since same division, but of they get Wilson, that opens up Seahawks), Steelers that would love a QB.
We are all done with Carr, but people vastly underestimate how the league views him

Easy to not be conservative when you have a HOF WR and a coach that builds an offense around your talent. Carr is a product of his environment. I have a hard time imagining any non established QB coming in when Carr did and thriving under the same circumstances. There are so many glaring holes in this Org, I really don't think the QB, at last for next year, is one of the first things that need to be changed. Keep Carr, keep Mariota, get a coach that wants to spread the ball and attack downfield, and if Carr can't get with the program you bench him. Plenty of teams may be willing to look at Carr, but I'm still hesitant to trade for a QB that says he will retire if he isn't a Raider, and is at the end of his contract.Rainman56 wrote Wed Dec 15, 2021 3:59 am:Stafford has far better/more intagibles.toughness, leadership and isn't conservative by nature when playing.I honestly don't think you can use his trade as a gauge for Carr as the Rams were desperate to trade Goff and with his massive contract the Lions knew they were one of the few teams that could fit it in their cap space...Gotta respect Stafford for the way he went about asking for a trade...Guy is a team player and a standup guy.

Yep, remember Napolean Kaufman. Played long enough to make a couple of million bucks and road off into the sunset to build a church and preach.Willmark » Wed Dec 15, 2021 5:42 am
I don’t understand the comparison of Carr to Stafford other than situations with the teams.
