The way you are making excuses you could argue the safety wasn't covering Jones or Waller and he was just in the area, so in that case Waller wasn't covered by anyone. Either way I'm pretty sure we have debated this before many times yet you still defending it for some reason.16 to 88 wrote Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:13 pm:You're chocking with your response.
I never stated anything to Jeremey about what he could have done or should have done. Do you know how to read/comprehend? I simply stated that it was not thrown into triple coverage as has been bandied about by several posters on here because they hate Carr so much no matter how much they say they don't. It's as obvious as obvious gets.
Just like the video below.
0:24 mark. CLEARLY shows double coverage not triple coverage.

At least that's a start. You finally stopped lying about the triple coverage.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:25 pm:Whoa, it was only two guys who could have tackled him before the end zone and twi in his back pocket. The two closest of them seemed to be more than enough because Zay didn't make 1 step towards the endzone. That does not 'make it all better', or some kind of 'hate filled conspuliracy' but you do you.
So I stand corrected:
Does that fix Carr's flaws? No.
Does that remove his two fourth and games? No.
Does it fix the player with the third most turnovers in the NFL since 2018? No.
Does it fix his bottom tier redzone offense? No.
Does that fix the 31st ranked offense over the final 7 games of 2019?
Does that make him not have 16 turnovers to 11 TDs over the final 9 games of last season? No.
Does that cause him to put up a Jimmy G trash tier sub 70 passer rating in his playoff game? No.
Does that cause him to force our playoff games final play into double coverage, with two defenders standing on our receiver and two more coming in to make the tackle before the goalline? No.
... does that set your mind at ease?

Carr has been the starting QB for 8 seasons in a row.Jeremyturner1976 » Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:45 am
I never said he does not have good attributes. Noone ranks him 11-13 without that. The entire conversation was about how the defense plays very little in the evaluation of Carr as a QB.16 to 88 wrote Mon Aug 22, 2022 10:39 pm:At least that's a start. Let's see if we can straighten you out on the rest and keep in mind, I pounded the table last OFF season ALL off season long to trade him while we could. But that ship sailed. I still am hoping that now he finally has one of the best OC's in the game and a host of supreme weapons that he will finally make me eat my words.
Would love nothing more than that.
Does it fix his flaws? No. But you never seem to point out his strengths. Let the hate flow through you young Jedi.

Does it fix the player with the third most turnovers in the NFL since 2018? Who knows!!!?!!!
Somewhat clever choice of words but a guy like me is going to call you on this. You are including his fumbles. Pretty much everyone who understands football does not call attention to a QB's fumbles. If any QB is behind an inferior OL (cough, cough) this can add on to whatever fumbles he has had. It's the interceptions that coaches are really concerned about. Which, Carr, is one of the better QB's in the league in this category. He takes good care of the ball.
Also, you cherry picked from 2018. Not from when he entered the league in 14. And I shouldn't have to point this out to you but I will anyways, although we could all do without the fumbles this does not necessarily mean he will continue that trend. Sorry, weak argument.

I will answer all 4 of these in one fell swoop. But I will start by answering your question with a question...
Does it not matter that last year he lost his coach(!!!) and then the only viable wideout he had beside Hunter at the beginning of the season?
Just losing your HC alone, much less in the spectacular fashion we did would cause most teams to completely tank. I thought the season was over. Then, Henry Ruggs. He didn't lose him to IR which is bad enough, yet another stunning and horrible tragedy. Did we tank? I think just considering those two circumstances he did pretty good to hang in there.
But wait! There's more! Once again, for the millionth time we where penalized repeatedly. 124 times. 2nd in the league. So we had to over come that. Our OL was in shambles, we had to overcome that... too. But at least we had our running game! Oops, no to that also. We finished 28th in rushing. If you are calculating, and I hope you are, that's the bottom 5 in the league. Am I missing anything else? Greg Olson at OC and play caller!!?! There's another.
With all that hanging over our heads I say it's a miracle we won any games at all.
Derek Carr 2021...
Attempts 626
Completions 428
Passing Yards 4804 (5th in the league)
Completion Percentage 68.4 (higher then the 4 QB's in front of him)
Yards per attempt 7.7 (higher then 3 of the 4 QB's in front of him)
Touchdowns 23
Interceptions 14
Sacked 40 times
Or if you like we can reverse engineer. Not a QB in the league (much less the 4 above him) had happened to him last year with Gruden and Ruggs that happened to Derek.
The 4 QB's above him all have legitimate OC's calling their games.
The 4 QB's above him all had better running games.
The 4 QB's above him all had better OL's and incurred far less sacks.
The 4 QB's above him all had to deal with less penalties.
Does this not count for anything? I think anybody with even a little football common sense would agree what he had to endure last year and overcame was pretty incredible. And I'm not a Carr fan as you know.
But I call it like it is...

being a QB in the NFL requires a lot of mental toughness and clarity. The best are rarely the best physical players, but they are universally mentally strong. I would take the football smart Brady any day of the week.Ivanavich wrote Mon Aug 22, 2022 10:41 pm:Carr has been the starting QB for 8 seasons in a row.
8 seasons in a row.
If his name wasn't Carr, this board would mostly agree that a QB starting his 9th season as the starter for the same team... he must be pretty damn good, because most HCs and GMs last less than 5 full seasons... and new HCs and GMs like to start over with their own QB choice.
In 2022, Carr's physical skill level > Brady's physical skill level. No reason to want to replace Carr with Brady. No reason at all.

Here are the 25 Worst Defenses in the Superbowl Era [ that's 56 years ] for those of you that can't count.
There is only ONE quarterback on that list that did NOT have a LOSING record.
And that quarterback is the ELITE DEREK CARR ! When you do something that no other quarterback has done in a over a half century , you are FUCKING ELITE !
2020 : Superbowl winning QB Matt Stafford couldn't do it !
1972 : Superbowl winning QB Jim Plunkett couldn't do it !
2009 : Superbowl winning QB Matt Stafford couldn't do it !
1975 : Superbowl winning & HOF QB Joe Namath couldn't do it !
2001 : Superbowl winning & HOF QB Peyton Manning couldn't do it !
2015 : Superbowl winning & soon to be HOF QB Drew Brees couldn't do it !
BUT THE GREAT DEREK CARR DID IT !!!
...suck on that and learn football you Carr bigots.
Tell us again that defense is irrelevant and make a fool of yourself again .
