Lot of pages here, so maybe I have missed this. At this point, why would any team need to trade for Carr at this point? Carr has to sign off on the deal regardless...if he is open to the team wants to trade for him, why wouldn't he just wait to get released and then sign with them? That allows his new team not to have to trade any assets. Is the reason a trade is in play that Carr's contract would pay him a little more than the open market and therefore keeping the contract in place is in his best interest? The Duke » Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:54 am
I honestly have no idea why anyone would trade for him, at this point, other than to secure his services so they do not have to bid against another potential suitor?Hefeloco wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:45 am:Lot of pages here, so maybe I have missed this. Any ideas?

Meh...my brother (who is a cowboy fan) asked me a couple weeks ago why I continue to be a fan of this dumpster fire of a team. Of course I reminded him of the cowboys last 20 years. I will always be a fan of the team over any player....but I am also an "once a Raider always a Raider" guy so I dont believe in how Carr has been treated on his way out. Not his fault he signed contracts he was offered or that ultimately it has been our inability to draft, and overpaying FA's, that has resulted in a lack of talent and depth....and the worst defense in the league over the last decade.Hefeloco » Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:58 am
Yeah - that is all I can think of too. Wasn't sure if I was really missing something. If Carr thinks he can get more on the open market than his current deal then no trade will happen. The Duke wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:54 am:I honestly have no idea why anyone would trade for him, at this point, other than to secure his services so they do not have to bid against another potential suitor?

While I would LOVE to get something back for Carr, the most likely scenario is us cutting him the day after the Super Bowl.Hefeloco wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:58 am:Yeah - that is all I can think of too. Yes but still, these are offense guys who have been around the block a few times. They saw all the tape, did their homework, and came to the same conclusions, they could win with Carr. Not endorsing Carr, just saying that it's very possible that others will come to the same conclusion.Dark Horse wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:23 am:At the time people weren't telling the truth about Carr. Now they are. There also more years of sustained poor play.

That being said...the constant belittling does get old and has contributed to my less frequent visits. I agree it was time to move on....just dont agree with kicking a dead horse on the way out the door.

I really don't think so in the sense that I don't think any team that brings in Carr isn't do so out of some degree of desperate. If this was the offseason after 2020, I would agree with your sentiment. We should have sold high. The rest of the league is witnessing this incredible young QB turnover taking place. The Brees's. Ryans, Bradys, Rogers, Tannehills and Wilsons of the world are either retired, nearly retired or demonstrating that they can no longer get it done.Jeevo wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:02 am:Yes but still, these are offense guys who have been around the block a few times. While Tom Brady played the worst I have ever seen him play, he still put up 334 and 2 tds. That was a great day for our last guy. Its the absolute floor for brady. He had no running game at all, and his WRs were doing him no favors with dropped balls and running awful routes.Xramfan » Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:15 am
Dang dude, I just read this and ran through my front door without opening it yelling "Come and get it mother fuckers!!!!"GUYDON wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:25 am:I have read the book. It is all about accountability, being a professional, looking at things from different angles. Not one word in it about coddling man babies.
I was never in the SEALs but I did go to sniper school, rangers school , air assault school, airborne school, and e&e training, plus earned my expert infantry badge and combat infantry badge. There was no coddling, no pats on the back for doing your job. Its what was expected as a base line. If you couldn't do it, we sent your ass to HQ to do paper work.
One thing to understand SEALs, Ranger battalion, Army special forces are all called SOF. Special operations force. You dont just go. You are vetted by your unit then a pre-course, then you go to the course. There isnt a lot of yelling and screaming from instructors in these courses (compared to basic amd AIT). You are simply a go or a no-go. If you cant do the job you are being asked to do, you are gone, period. No handshake, no "you'll do better next time". So by the time you get to the course , you already have that mentality.
The nfl has turned in to a kindergarten for man babies. Not all, but many players think the coach is supposed to be like their daddy, or fun uncle. The game and work environment is supppsed to be fun. Its a professional business. Not a daycare for wayward boys. The fun comes when you win. Until you are doing that consistently, it should be nose to the grind stone.
Now of course, you shouldn't run every business this way, but this is a mans game for men. It takes violence of action, dedication, hard work, and desire to be great.
When I am leading Susie from accounting I am a much different leader than I am leading a team of men to do violent things.

that may be the main difference between you and me...I open the door before I yell "come and get it motherfuckers" because I know the value of my door.Xramfan wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:15 am:Dang dude, I just read this and ran through my front door without opening it yelling "Come and get it mother fuckers!!!!"

I have a confession to make. Being that my front door is solid core walnut, I really didnt do it. However if made of paper, I'd kick its ass.Attyla wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:27 am:that may be the main difference between you and me...I open the door before I yell "come and get it motherfuckers" because I know the value of my door.

If that was Carr many here would point out two things: 1)his team still lost. 2)Both tds and most of the yards came after the outcome was already decidedGUYDON wrote Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:04 am:While Tom Brady played the worst I have ever seen him play, he still put up 334 and 2 tds. I dont at all think this is the new brady. I dont care if we get him or not, I trust the FO to get players they need in here.
With that, I would be very surprised to not get at least some compensation for carr. We will find out by 15 feb
