The only way it makes sense is if they think he is a better bridge than Stidham.signal wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 9:42 am:IF the Raiders go after Jimmy G, I will be disappointed and begin to think that Z and Josh may not know shit about how to build a roster.

I can be happy with Jimmy G & Stidham, both know the system & can excel in it. Jimmy G may not look great but has always won & has the experience of taking his team to championship games.HesterLayes wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 9:54 am:The only way it makes sense is if they think he is a better bridge than Stidham.
If they go Jimmy G and Stidham this year I will be unwell

the only way this makes sense is if the plan is one year and then we are drafting the future.HesterLayes wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 9:54 am:The only way it makes sense is if they think he is a better bridge than Stidham.

It doesn't make sense financially.HesterLayes wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 9:54 am:The only way it makes sense is if they think he is a better bridge than Stidham.

sure it does. The cap is about to explode and any deals we make can be structured so we have flexibility this year and then we have a lot of room. The financials can always be handled if you have a good capologist. We put together a string of contracts this last year that are going to end up looking cheap in another year including AdamsDark Horse wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 10:18 am:It doesn't make sense financially.

Yes, agreed.Attyla wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 10:18 am:the only way this makes sense is if the plan is one year and then we are drafting the future.
If Jimmy is the choice this year, and we draft our future, I am good with that as well. Not sure who the target would be but my choice would be Stroud if we go that route. If we are waiting until 2024 we better have a very closely monitored plan in mind.
I am actually tired of waiting on our franchise to go full QB of the future. I guess Carr was that but after 2017 we should have been shopping a developmental QB and we just refused to do so.

If they spend a lot of $ on Jimmy G it will really have me doubting Z.He has made a few iffy decisions, but no GM is perfect.Seems like a bright dude and his one year out on the turd was encouraging.HesterLayes » Sat Feb 11, 2023 11:23 am
The only gap to me is that Young is better.

Only way Jimmy G makes sense is if he comes dirt cheap. And I could be dead wrong about this, but I don't think he will sign for peanuts but will be looking for around $25 to $35 million. Or am I nuts? Not saying he is worth that much, but given the escalating contracts for QBs, I would be surprised if he signed for less.HesterLayes wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 9:54 am:The only way it makes sense is if they think he is a better bridge than Stidham.

This right here. Initially I hated the idea of Jimmy. 49er fans know how weak he is and I agree. I fought a bunch of them about not wanting that guy before Carr's fate was even sealed. I really really want to roll the dice on Aaron Rodgers. I think we can compete for a playoff run THIS YEAR if we get him in the building without giving up too much draft capital. If we can't make that work for whatever reason I understand but let's please not be THAT team that spends a decade searching for a franchise qb unsuccessfully. If you can't make the deal for Rodgers let's go straight for the big ticket.HesterLayes wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 10:52 am:If they spend a lot of $ on Jimmy G it will really have me doubting Z.He has made a few iffy decisions, but no GM is perfect.Seems like a bright dude and his one year out on the turd was encouraging.
Jimmy G fairly cheap with a move up for Stroud or Young and he will be golden in my book.
A lot for Jimmy and no first rounder…no bueno

I like Stidham because I think you can sign a QB who has two starts under his belt for a lot less and he knows the offensive scheme very well and would be a good guy to have in the QB room depending on whoever else they draft. Personally, I want there to be as much money available as possible under the cap to fix the rest of the roster that really needs work.

When one considers just how many quarterbacks have entered the league and how many littler quarterbacks have been successful, at best they are in the 1 percentile. We will have to wait (weight!) until the measurable's come out but it sure sounds like he will be one of the smaller of the small quarterbacks...

I understand the size thing,I really do.The kid is elite and tough as hell.If he puts on the 25 pounds he said..I’m good.16 to 88 wrote Sat Feb 11, 2023 12:09 pm:When one considers just how many quarterbacks have entered the league and how many littler quarterbacks have been successful, at best they are in the 1 percentile.
