First, if a QB drops in your lap, I think, under almost any circumstances, you pick them. It is the most important position in football and well, if someone you really like drops in your lap...and you think he is the best player on the board...then you take him.signal » Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:07 am

Positive growth that projects out to a winning QB. OL also plays a part in this to, if they can't perform to a level, then it does make it hard to judge.GUYDON » Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:39 am
I think by week 17 we will know if he is the guy or not. It should be pretty obvious.Ismail86 » Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:48 am
It's honestly a tough one. The guy has balls, knowledge, fantastic accuracy. If he keeps doing what he's doing, in a normal year, I'd say to roll with him. The problem is that there's SO many quality QB's coming out next year that would add a layer of versatility that he just doesn't have. I think I'd probably spend a 2 or 3 on a high upside QB for competition purposes (KJ Jefferson, Jordan Travis etc.) I really like Jayden Daniels but he's going to go in round 1. He'd also be my pick if AOC doesn't pan out.Attyla » Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:57 am
I do not think there is an answer to this that would be correct. Certainly winning is one thing you look for with a QB but that is also a team driven number. Completion percentage and red zone success? Again, while the QB has the bulk of responsibility for this, the players on the field all contribute to this. The eye test? Sure, subjectively you need to see his progress but you cannot quantify that. What looks like an A performance to a fan might look far different to a coach or GM. And you have to factor in who will be coaching the team and what do they want from the QB? Also, you have players who are trying to get their rhythm down with the youngster.Amish Cabal » Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:06 pm
If it were me, I'd draft a QB in '24 no matter what AOC4 does. We've currently got no back-up worth a shit, and Jimmy is too expensive to be a #2.HITMAN » Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:21 pm
Being reasonable has nothing to do with the question, and honestly the Raiders should always draft in the event of injury and much needed depth! Hell they don't have a viable option as it stands if AOC gets hurt! If he runs the table you pick up a QB in the later rounds, but they should never not draft a potential replacement! EVER!signal wrote Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:07 am:Really????????
Would the Raiders run the table right now with any QB in the league behind center? Is any QB in this league that good? According to the records of every team in the league, the answer is no.
Be reasonable.

This franchise needs to be drafting QBs every 2-3 years maybe more until we get it right.Sir Raider Duck, OMS » Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:29 pm
Yes, but the question is whether you draft a guy in Round 1 or 2 to be the starter, Rounds 3-4 to possibly compete with AO4, or draft a guy later as a planned backup?Amish Cabal wrote Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:06 pm:If it were me, I'd draft a QB in '24 no matter what AOC4 does. Not every 1st rounder is worthy of starting and not every 3-4th rounder is a career back up a lot of their success or failure is the system they are in and does that system help develop their strengths as a player!Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:29 pm:Yes, but the question is whether you draft a guy in Round 1 or 2 to be the starter, Rounds 3-4 to possibly compete with AO4, or draft a guy later as a planned backup?
