I saw Journey in late 1976 or early 1977 at Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium before Steve Perry joined them. I was a big fan of Neil Schon and jam rock they did back then; plus, they had the great Ansley Dunbar on drums. The band did I think four encores and we are pretty sure they went backstage and did coke between each encore. It had all of the hallmarks.352Raider wrote Wed Apr 14, 2021 12:03 pm:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv0Oy_78MfQ

This is just classic. So dated. Can’t say I know the band but certainly know the song and it is not lost on me that these guys were great musicians. Ah - the days of big hair. I had big hair in 1975.Fade2SilverAndBlack wrote Wed Apr 14, 2021 10:09 pm:Angel- "The Tower".....

Yes, they were great times. I was in the right place at the right time. And, not to be discounted, my parents let me do all that including driving to SF with a lot of friends and they knew we were getting loaded (weak Mexican weed back then). My mother gave me a long leash because she grew up in NYC and spent a lot of time in Harlem seeing jazz greats like Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, and more. She knew how much music meant to me and she actually smoked weed back then (so around the early 1940's). She ended up joining the US Army to "straighten out her life," but in any case, owe it to her for being able to get such great exposure to music. Of all the groups I played on our home "Hi-Fi" she really liked the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, due to their jazzy forays.Sold My Soul wrote Wed Apr 14, 2021 5:29 pm:Very cool Hub.........
