I said it before. And I think it had a lot to do with the distinction in 2017 and 2018. Carr comes in saying all the right things and in the beginning you may buy in. But hearing him and then seeing him quit on plays and just suck and then keep talking like this starts to jar against you like nails on a chalk board. Players then start to say shut the fuck up already. But that isn’t who he is and somewhere in his fucked up ego thinks he really is an awesome QB (evidenced by his little social media tirade earlier this year). There are those who love his Christian ways and defend him like Lee and there are those who want to win. And then you got a split locker room.Rainman56 wrote Fri Mar 22, 2019 7:00 am:https://youtube.com/watch?v=vKgH3TeC3fg

As a Christian, huge Carr supporter and Gruden kool aid drinker, I'd say this in response:vegas34 wrote Fri Mar 22, 2019 7:29 pm:I said it before. I think his carrying on brings toxicity if you aren’t winning and a lot has to do with Carr quitting on plays. Teammates see that shit.

where's the picture?Silversurfer wrote Thu Mar 28, 2019 12:18 am:As a Christian, huge Carr supporter and Gruden kool aid drinker, I'd say this in response:
1. His faith should be OFF LIMITS, just like his family, period. I greatly admire his stand and courage, but relative to football it shouldn't be part of the discussion disparaging or defending him. I understand the distinction you're making but your argument stands on its own without ever needing to invoke his faith.
2. Your assessment of his 'words' not matching his football decisions and actions related to 'quitting on plays' is not only fair, but unfortunately becoming more and more accurate every passing game he plays.
3. Your speculation that Carr's words contrasted with his quitting on plays is directly related to fractures in the locker room and/or team dysfunction/disunity is also sadly very possible if not likely, at least for some. But again, I think it's unfair to make his 'faith' the reason some/many may support him versus the others who want 'winning.'
Though I'd of made the argument differently, it's a sad fact that Carr's fiery words lose their salt watching him quit on plays too often. Whatever his explanation or excuse, he either HAS TO CHANGE THAT MENTALITY or he needs to go.
I was looking for every reason in the world to love this kid, and supported him that way for his first several years, but watching the 'quit on plays' mentality develop/bloom over the last two years has SOURED ME ON CARR IN A BIG WAY. I get hysterical sometimes watching him and begging for him to LEAD WITH FIRE AND FURY, and constantly comment that the only time he plays truly GREAT is when he's 'angry Carr.' But that Carr RARELY comes to play, we get the tethered/protective nice guy who always thinks you can just 'get em next time', and it kills me. Between the lines, Carr should be the cutthroat QB who is unafraid to call out his teammates as well as NEVER GIVE UP ON A PLAY, not the guy who's constantly throwing the ball away and worried about others feelings.
The good news in all this is, I don't think Gruden will 'buy in' for much longer. Like me, I believe Gruden loves the 'person' DC and wants to believe he can manifest his talent and leadership on the field, but also like me (and many others obviously) I think the lack of 'words' and 'actions' matching up will grow old very quickly.
The RaiderNation embraced and believed in him emphatically almost to a fault after having no true franchise QB for so long, but this last season and offseason has caused the tide to shift and the support fade. Hopefully, maybe, all the criticism and speculation will FINALLY WAKE HIM UP to be the ANGRY CARR on the field who can and does know how to fight for every single inch, every second of the game.
We all know this is Carrs swan song. Either he takes it to a whole new level or he's gone next year. As for me, I'm still holding on to a glimmer of hope that he can turn it around, but his quitting on plays in HAS TO END in '19.
