On a few Pregame MNF conversations now they get to Carr as a panel and then Steve brings up the contract and says "You need to lock him up now! Pay the man!". It's fairly over the top since like neither side is even trying to discuss a new contract now, but Steve it seems this is like a top priority in his life even. It's a bit strange in how passionate he's been about it. Maybe Derek's team is leaking to Steve, I dunno, but there has been nothing from DC about this being important right now.Aqua wrote Mon Oct 18, 2021 2:04 pm:What has Steve Young said about Carr ?

- mods have been discussing how to make the boards better and more usable
- given the polarizing nature of Carr discussion, we've tried to keep it from dominating every thread, however a Carr super thread was never the goal.
- the old Carr thread contains so much trolling and so many pissing matches that it just invited more.
- we decided to let new Carr threads form (please don't take this as a reason to turn every discussion on another topic into a Carr thread).
- This isn't 'the' Carr thread, it's just a good start at a fresh start. If there's a unique idea for another Carr thread, go ahead and start another.
- I picked a nice link posted by raiderandbulldog as the starting point to split this out of the other thread, apologies if I missed some prior amazing posts but this just seemed like a good post to start with and the thread was refreshingly void of trolling or stupid memes after that point

Carr wont be highest paid player on his new deal like he was last time but rest assured hes gonna hit us over the head good on this next contract. He will leave some on the table but not much. He will consider anything under 40 mill/year to be doing us a favor. I know carr talks alot but trust me hes loves money and needs of it to kick of his mega church once he retires.Lamonica_D » Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:51 am

Help me out here as I know nothing. Is Carr still struggling to actually put the ball in front of Ruggs? Seems like when it's deep, Ruggs has to slow down or turn around or make some kind of adjustment. The ball doesn't come down in front of him so he can run out to it.Attyla » Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:13 am
if the receiver runs the route as the play called for, the QB should, with some reasonable knowledge, know where to throw the ball so the receiver and the ball arrive at the same location at the same time. There should be no anticipation unless the route breaks down or the play breaks down. What you are seeing somewhat is a broken play and creating on the fly.Danchinho wrote Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:10 am:Help me out here as I know nothing. Is that Carr not reading his speed or Ruggs not running the route Carr is expecting?
I think I understand that, especially on a deep route, there is a fair bit of anticipation on behalf of the QB. The QB throws it as the WR is progressing through his route and is probably not yet open when the ball leaves the QB's hands but, if all goes to plan, is when it's time for the WR to catch it.
It seems one of them is not quite getting it right to me.

Carr’s receivers get very little credit for bailing him out at times he under/throws more than you’d think but Waller & co tend to make great adjustments to make those catches when he doesDanchinho wrote Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:10 am:Help me out here as I know nothing. I cannot believe you think he has made enough money for his career just because he said it in a presser. If he has a career year, he is line for generational money, and he and his agent will go after that money. will he give a home team discount? He did not his first time. As for the Raiders job, we have just come off a mess of a summer, most our front office quit in a short period of time, we have a talking head for a GM who may not even be here next year, and an owner who is going coo coo for cocopuffs in the media right now. the disfunction surrounding this team is frighteningly high right now. Carr had a good game on Sunday, but it was against a bad team, and is coming off a game prior where he was not great. Let's see him put together a string of good games. Until then, this job is like a pig you put makeup on.Lamonica_D wrote Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:38 am:ROFL
You guys know he already came out and said he's a Raider or retires and openly said he's made enough money in his career.
Not many players go out and say those kind of things.
I will find it but I believe it was early in preseason in one of his pressers.
As for coaches....everyone wants this job. Good players and great veteran QB in Vegas with new facilities. This is the #1 job in the league.

Without a Superbowl appearance, or at least a Conference Championship Game, I don't see how Carr's play is worth more than a $30 million per year 3 year contract extension. He seems to believe in himself, which is great, but the Raiders over paid for his current contract and it would not make good sense to do so again. Stafford, is a better passer than Carr and he makes $30 million per year. Tannehill and Cousins are each making about $30 million per year .Darksince83 wrote Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:43 am:Carr wont be highest paid player on his new deal like he was last time but rest assured hes gonna hit us over the head good on this next contract. In a Dallas game i actually watched this past weekend, Prescott looked like shit on many of his throws. Brutally off the mark, repeatedly, regardless of his stat line.CWood24 wrote Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:31 am:Carr’s receivers get very little credit for bailing him out at times he under/throws more than you’d think but Waller & co tend to make great adjustments to make those catches when he does
He has the ability to be consistently better & hopefully he shows that under a more progressive coach he might just be in a one year audition right now to any potential HC watching as they may wanna move on to get there guy
Carr for me if we do re-sign is in the 30-33 million per yer range at best he ain't in the Mahomes, Allen or Prescott tier of pay which i think he is gonna want if so i think you move on

Some of the throws Carr made this past Sunday were truly impressive. The Kenyan Drake wheel route still gets me going man. It's one of the more difficult throws to make. Splitting the coverage on that first Ruggs touchdown took some confidence and decisiveness in decision making that he hasn't shown in previous years. I can't forget the past two games, he seemed to come back down to earth a bit. Specifically with his accuracy in the face of adversity. But I really hope he continues playing like the guy we've seen in the 4 games we won. If he does I really think we have a puncher's chance any given Sunday.RaiderandBulldog wrote Sun Oct 17, 2021 9:56 pm:https://twitter.com/Raiders/status/1449892373878636548

That statement of retiring instead of playong elsewhere shows much more disrespect to the organisation than anything, by saying it Carr showed he doesn’t love the Raiders because if he did & they wanted to trade him for the better of the organisation he would go without a care instead of handicapping usLamonica_D wrote Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:38 am:ROFL

I said Carr's contract at the time was a deal because a lot of top QB's were coming into their new contracts.Aqua wrote Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:44 am:Without a Superbowl appearance, or at least a Conference Championship Game, I don't see how Carr's play is worth more than a $30 million per year 3 year contract extension.
