This isn't a question, it's dramatic poppycock.BoJacksonRules wrote Tue Nov 22, 2022 3:44 pm:Ok Ivan, tell me how we even sign our rookie draft class without dumping Carr, let alone field a team, about half the team won’t be under contract next year and we still will be in cap hell.

Really? Come on man. We all get it. Carr should go. But saying we can't field a team if we don't get rid of him is one of the least educated things I've seen on this site. And that's saying something.BoJacksonRules wrote Tue Nov 22, 2022 3:44 pm:Ok Ivan, tell me how we even sign our rookie draft class without dumping Carr, let alone field a team, about half the team won’t be under contract next year and we still will be in cap hell.

As of right now, I'm going with DTR or Penix later in the draft to sit behind someone that has this offensive system down pat. Jimmy G, Jacoby Brissett or Stidham. I just really want to build this team around a rookie contract to get this roster right.Attyla » Wed Nov 23, 2022 4:29 am
our cap status will be tighter than I would like. we have the money for the rookie deals and everyone knows we will field a team. But we got a lot of cap tied into six or seven players, far more than we should in my opinion.Ismail86 wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 4:05 am:Really? Come on man. We all get it. Carr should go. I think we need to move Carr & Waller to be able to build a team & competeAttyla wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 4:29 am:our cap status will be tighter than I would like. we have the money for the rookie deals and everyone knows we will field a team. But we also all know that there are two deals we can walk on that would free up some cap space. Trading Waller has very little cap hit and we all know about the Carr contract. But we will field a team and sign our rookies no matter what we do on the top end.

The fact that the Raiders will be paying their QB more than 30 million next year and over 40 million the following year does not bother me. What bothers me is that I don't think that his play in those years will warrant the salary. In short, you simply are not getting good bang for your buck. I think there are scenarios out there where teams are paying huge money for their QBs and are getting the necessary return for their money.Atlasffa » Wed Nov 23, 2022 9:16 am

I do not know about Waller but I don't see us keeping Carr. If that were the case then why draw up a contract that allows you to get out from underneath it. That doesn't show faith in your QB it shows doubt.CWood24 wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 8:00 am:I think we need to move Carr & Waller to be able to build a team & compete
I would like to trade both & come out with a 1st, 2nd & 3rd because with 6 picks in the first 3 rounds we could build a team especially with the near 50 mil in cap we would save to, more than likely we cut Carr & move on Waller though for me although i think teams will covet a QB like Carr if they cant get high enough up the draft to get one
Can only keep our fingers crossed this happens

First, what an insulting thing to say to someone as your insert yourself into another conversation. Back on topic: Go look at players under contract for next year, then look at the salary cap, next add contracts for rookie draft class and you’ll see what I’m talking about. You will see how dire the cap situation is.Ismail86 wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 4:05 am:Really? Come on man. We all get it. Carr should go. And Mark was going to hire another ex-raider to be GM/HC.Willmark wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 9:30 am:Carr will be back in 2023, Mark Davis wants him. Sucks but is what it is.

You are probably right, but I still am holding out hope that he is gone.Willmark wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 9:30 am:Carr will be back in 2023, Mark Davis wants him. Sucks but is what it is.

As we watch one 1st round QB after another fall into the shitter, I'm more and more inclined to draft D high and find a QB who is just competent. Someone you don't have to count on to be a playmaker; he just has to be able to get the ball into the hands of others and cost less than $10 million per year or so.Ivanavich » Wed Nov 23, 2022 12:20 pm
You are asking the QB to overcome losing a Top 5 TE and another of his highly paid WRs, to overcome an o-line that keeps changing and to overcome a defense that has let every QB have the best stats of their season facing it.16 to 88 wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 9:17 am:I do not know about Waller but I don't see us keeping Carr. We have beaten the same lousy team twice and it took overtime in the second game to make it happen. If we had loss the coin toss who knows how that game would have wound up. We also beat the worst team in the league in the Texans. The He's looked pretty good (not incredible) in 2 games and mediocre to downright awful in 8 of them. The guys a bum.
You don't sign 32 year old bums to 40 million dollar contracts.
Thus the reason for the 1 year rental contact at the beginning of this season. Really, we haven't beaten anybody of any significance. And if you think that's brutal look at our upcoming schedule! We play the sleazehawks coming off of their bye, then the chargers who are in the playoff hunt and who we already lost too, last years SB champions on a short week, the patriots, the steelers in freezing cold Pittsburgh in December, then the forty ninnies and the chiefs.

There is wisdom in this post. IF you can find a game manager that as you put it "has a set of nuts." I think you can be a successful franchise if you are able to successfully fortify your team and especially the D with PREMIUM draft picks and free agents given the room under the cap you have made available.Opoponax50 wrote Wed Nov 23, 2022 12:11 pm:As we watch one 1st round QB after another fall into the shitter, I'm more and more inclined to draft D high and find a QB who is just competent. Zach Wilson, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Trey Lance, Carson Wentz, Paxton Lynch, Trubisky, Josh Rosen, Dwayne Haskins, Jordan Love, etc. They all have ended up sucking. In that same time frame you have a few success stories, e.g. Mahomes, Herbert, Jackson, Burrow, etc. And of those guys, just one has won a Super Bowl.
The teams that have drafted busts end up getting set back for years.
We're in a division with two good to great QBs. Neither are going anywhere anytime soon. We need to go the opposite way and find someone in the later rounds whose primary qualifications are 1) he's not an idiot and 2) that he has a set of nuts, and 3) he can learn a fucking playbook in less than two years.
