The usc guy looks good. Certainly hoping we aren’t picking that high in 24. We’d have to really set the team up this year and then trade the farm for a guy like that if the top team isn’t qb needy. A lot of things to consider. If we are in position I’d take Levis this year. Let him work with stidham and our current 3. Stidham starts until the coach feels Levis is ready. If nothing else he can get a few plays a game in an rpo situation. If he doesn’t work you try again.BlackShield » Sat Nov 26, 2022 7:21 pm
i see levis as a 10-15 range guy r1, and expect the raiders to be right in that area as far as draft position. top qb's will already be off the board, as will jalen carter, will anderson, myles murphy, ringo.Raidernation1979 wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 7:03 pm:The usc guy looks good. On a side note if Jacobs does leave and he declares I’d be all about this achane kid in the backfield

How many of the projected high QB's going to want to play in their championship/bowl game.tega24 » Sat Nov 26, 2022 8:58 pm
I haven’t posted in a while but I’m curious What others think about the quarterback position. I’m a car guy I’ll be honest I think all of us have been car guys at one point or another but I think we all can agree that car is 10 to 15 max as a quarterback and what I mean is top 10 or top 15. With a solid defense he could probably make a solid run maybe even win a Super Bowl who knows but as far as this raider team at the moment we are basically in the same position we were in five years ago with Khalil Mack being the Allpro just swipe him out now for Maxx Crosby. For my quarterback pigs assuming we don’t keep car next year because of the cap hit I would love to see Will Levis or Stroud if we could somehow finesse one of those top quarterbacks I know a lot of people are up and down on those guys but I really think this group of quarterbacks is the real deal and I’d be happy with any of the top three I don’t think the Raiders can wait two years to try to find a quarterback like Caleb Williams from USC when people will just be waiting and waiting I don’t like losing I don’t think If we’re going to lose I wanted to be exciting with a young team and roster and I’d like to see a young quarterback so if we could somehow trade car for a first round pick to a team like the Giants maybe the Jets New Orleans etc. I think we have a real shot at getting some thing and starting this thing from scratch any of us like losing andALLRAIDERWORLD21 » Sat Nov 26, 2022 9:16 pm
Im liking what I’m seeing in this Washington QB, Michael Penix Jr. Maybes he falls to the 2nd or 3rd the way all these other QBs are so overrated. He’s a left too, just like The Snake.. Draft him late and groom him for a few years. Either something like this or wait and try and trade up for a Williams. I still think 1st pick this draft needs to be defense.CWood24 » Sun Nov 27, 2022 2:27 am
I watched that game it was the second time i’ve seen him but both times he has looked good as did Cam Ward today aswell, i don’t think you could go wrong with either guy in that game with how they lookedALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 9:16 pm:Im liking what I’m seeing in this Washington QB, Michael Penix Jr. Maybes he falls to the 2nd or 3rd the way all these other QBs are so overrated. My guy will be long gone. Draft BPA in the first and hope that Z and McD have their guy at QB already figured out in the second on...Raidernation1979 » Sun Nov 27, 2022 5:06 am
The 2 biggest pieces the offense needs in my opinion are a speedy hands catcher and a fresh face under center. Defense has needs at all 3 levels.HesterLayes wrote Sun Nov 27, 2022 4:58 am:My guy will be long gone. Behind Young,Carter is my second best player. He will probably be gone.
CB from Georgia and Porter from Penn State are solid and we could use them for sure.I want D, but the only offensive player I could see Z taking is the tight end from Notre Dame. He’s a stud.

There wasn't a can't miss QB in 2017, when Mahomes and Watson were drafted. If we wait until we have a shot at a can't miss QB then Carr will be our QB forever. Draft a QB. It's not an exact science. Just do it.RenoRaiders75 wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 5:33 pm:There hasn't been a can't miss QB for a few years and I am juat not confident this year.

I don't divulge my secrets. And I know squat about college FB. I'll start looking at draft prospects after the season, but my knowledge will still be low compared to those who follow guys all the way through. I'll mostly just stay in my lane. But occasionally I'll make a ridiculous proclamation that I'll hope will someday turn out to be true so I can later claim to be a draft savant. I though Marino was gonna be a superstar. Unfortunately I had no message board to post that thought.HesterLayes wrote Sun Nov 27, 2022 6:36 am:Who

That's my take. Every year people say there are no good QBs....but wait 1 more year. I have heard about this year's class for 2 years. Now it's here and none of them are good enough. Gotta take a swing to get a hit. The only sure thing is we won't get a better QB if we don't go after onechucker wrote Sun Nov 27, 2022 6:35 am:There wasn't a can't miss QB in 2017, when Mahomes and Watson were drafted. It’s rare for rookies especially on defense to come in and impact the team on the field right away. I think the last time a rookie did that for the Raiders was Charles Woodson (Mack was ok)…. But I think for anyone to seriously expect(defensive) rookies to impact the team immediately in the W/L column are setting their expectations way too high… most rookies have to learn how to play the game at the pro level and it takes a few years…Attyla wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 6:44 pm:you have to roll the dice for sure. Defense is only gonna get better with an infuse of talent but to assume one draft is gonna recreate the 85 bears is just not realistic.
to be honest, the way to improve any defense is two fold. You have to be able to stop the pass, and that is with good corners and a good pass rush. And you have to get them off the field and that is by owning the clock on offense. The Bears had that stifling defense but they also had the ability to own the clock with a great running game. Jacobs has proven to be able to do the former, and Maxx has given us some of the prior. We just have to piece together the rest to make us viable.
But to do that in one off season given our oline issues? Not happening, we are at least 2 seasons from being a viable consistent contender

I think your best bet for rookie impact is on the d line. I think a rookie pass rusher has a solid chance at success with mad maxx opposite them.live.B.A.raida wrote Sun Nov 27, 2022 10:26 am:It’s rare for rookies especially on defense to come in and impact the team on the field right away. Would I like a cheap rookie QB to challenge Carr next year with a chance to win the job? Absolutely. Will Carr be our QB in 2023, absolutely. QB play right now is so horrific and it isn't going to get any better. So many teams need QB's in 2023 and would give up everything for Carr or a rookie QB. Even QB's like Daniel Jones, Lamar Jackson, Jimmy G, and Tom Brady might be free agents next year. Looking at the NFL, there are maybe 10 teams that are not looking to sign or upgrade at the QB position. There would be 15 teams lining up to trade for Carr right now at his current contract.
