A whole lot of smoke and bland answers.GUYDON » Tue Mar 28, 2023 8:10 pm
Wasnt it Kiper that had a huge man boner for JaMarcus Russell? Said something like " if he doesnt pan out I will retire?" Or something?Raider727 wrote Tue Mar 28, 2023 6:46 pm:Most draft guru's consider Carter the best player in the 2023 draft, including Mel Kiper and Todd McShay. Carter plays one biggest needs on the Raiders roster as well, it will be interesting what the Raiders do if he drops in their laps.

What if Kiper is just really good at identifying DTs. Not his fault that the Raiders played him out of position.GUYDON wrote Tue Mar 28, 2023 8:10 pm:Wasnt it Kiper that had a huge man boner for JaMarcus Russell? Said something like " if he doesnt pan out I will retire?" Of something?

I'm not saying Kiper or McShay are right, all I'm saying is before the Carter racing incident Carter was pretty much considered the top prospect coming out.GUYDON wrote Tue Mar 28, 2023 8:10 pm:Wasnt it Kiper that had a huge man boner for JaMarcus Russell? The big thing to remember with these talking heads is, if they are wrong about a player, it doesnt matter. For a gm to be wrong, it can set a team back years, cost big money, and get them fired.
Carter has massive waiving cremson red flags lit up like a Christmas tree.
If Im building thos roster from nothing lile the Raiders are, go go no where near carter.
He "could" get hos shot togetuer and be great, or he could be an absolute nightmare for the team that drafts him.
Not worth the chance at this stage for us. We need as close to a sure thing as we can get.

The racing incident is the least of his worriesRaider727 wrote Tue Mar 28, 2023 10:34 pm:I'm not saying Kiper or McShay are right, all I'm saying is before the Carter racing incident Carter was pretty much considered the top prospect coming out.
Do I think the Raiders should draft him if he falls? I think that it's something to consider, but I know it's risky. The Raiders can go a different route and it can still be risky either way because you never know how a player will pan out.
The last for sure player was Bosa and he was defensive player of the year last year. I think it's possible Carter coming in overweight and struggling in his pro day was due to stress from the racing accident though.

He started living on easy street before he got the job. Its definitely something that will make teams think twice about taking him early.CWood24 wrote Wed Mar 29, 2023 12:04 am:The racing incident is the least of his worries
Work ethic issues
For being such a top tier talent where is the production , we ask it of other prospects
Turned up to the biggest day of his professional life so far so out of shape he couldn’t finish drills, it should have been the opposite he should have been in the gym getting in shape keeping out the way
All that on top of immaturity issues
If the red flags are showing now what else don’t we know about
Gonzalez
Witherspoon
Wilson
Murphy
Should be the picks at #7

It has been mentioned but i am pretty positive the dude is not a sociopath, looking at the events for which any reasonable person including himself would show him as responsible for the loss of a life, can severely impact any 'focus'.DeathStar24 » Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:27 am
I understand and respect those that would pass on Carter. Personally, I'd take him.The Condor » Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:59 am

I think there were concerns about him before the accident, here's a scouting report that notes some of his weaknesses including : not loving football, out of shape, and doesnt work hard. Add in the horrible judgement shown with the accident and I could easily see the Raiders, as well as many other teams passing on him in the first round despite his immense talent.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Wed Mar 29, 2023 3:27 am:It has been mentioned but i am pretty positive the dude is not a sociopath, looking at the events for which any reasonable person including himself would show him as responsible for the loss of a life, can severely impact any 'focus'.
I don't want him and agree with reasons to not get him, just saying that he is likely living in a self made hell currently. Again, assuming he is not a sociopath.

Florida didn't have their Pro Day yet. Also, they went to dinner with Levis. There is no smoke screening.BigJerk wrote Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:20 am:Didn't I read that the Raiders skipped the Will Levis Pro-day ... But went to the Stroud and Richardson exhabition?
Is this the old classic Smoke screen?
Or do the JDGAF?
