At the end of the day coaching and the draft is where teams are really built. Last year the Raiders went big in the offseason trading for Adams and signing Jones. I was glad with the Jones signing but it hasn't paid off and he's the highest paid on the team this year.BluegrassRaider » Mon Mar 20, 2023 10:43 pm
It all always needs work.rich72 wrote Mon Mar 20, 2023 7:43 pm: Thats what I want to know. The defense needs 90% of the offseason work.

Yes that had to be done, but now is not the time to basque in glory.ELCAraiderfan wrote Mon Mar 20, 2023 8:30 pm:carr is gone......finally.
To me everything else is gravy. I hope the FO team can make the Raiders competitive but finally after all of these years.

I dig it.GUYDON wrote Mon Mar 20, 2023 2:45 pm:Out side of Myers, Raiders signing just absolute bargin basement FAs this season. Im finally getting the theme for 2023
"Who gives a shit about 2023, baby?"
They are building the goodwill thrift store equivalent roster.
We would have to hit on every draft pick and every UDFA for this roster to even compete.
The offense should be ok to decent, the defense is going to be flaming sewer trash.
Let me have my moment. Week 1 I will be rooting as hard as anyone for a win, but right now it looks just awful.

In free agency, you typically have to overpay for good talent because there is usually a bidding war in order to sign the player.FLORIDARAYDAH » Tue Mar 21, 2023 9:35 am
I was hoping we would land him. High energy guy and also a ST standout

They could do a lot of damage in 3 years I need to see some improvement from players this year. No more wasted picksRaider727 wrote Mon Mar 20, 2023 10:34 pm:At the end of the day coaching and the draft is where teams are really built. After seeing the Garoppolo contract, I'm ok with the rebuild. Ziegler is going to have to nail his drafts and McDaniels and the coaching staff have to get these guys prepared and setup to succeed, if the Raiders are gonna be any good anyway.
If the draft picks look bad and the team isn't well coached Ziegler and McDaniels will be gone anyway. We have to at least give this regime 3 years and see them build their team and we are barely going into year 2.
The Raiders have a lot of draft picks, if they can hit in the early rounds and find a gem in later rounds, the rebuild will be a thing of the past sooner then later. The Raiders need to draft 3 starters on defense imo, but have enough picks to get it done.

If the Raiders lose enough games to be able to draft Maye or Williams, while having a lot of cap space next year I wouldn't be mad. If the Raiders play well, there's a couple of other good QB's they could draft next year too.June510 wrote Tue Mar 21, 2023 9:55 am:They could do a lot of damage in 3 years I need to see some improvement from players this year. If Zeigler is clueless then we'll a bunch of wasted picks.Raider727 wrote Tue Mar 21, 2023 10:12 am:If the Raiders lose enough games to be able to draft Maye or Williams, while having a lot of cap space next year I wouldn't be mad. The Raiders need to build a defense through the draft and find their franchise QB through the draft too. The defensive players are there this year and QB next year.
I wouldn't mind drafting a QB this year but I don't want the Raiders trading the farm to get one, they already traded a 1st and 2nd last year, doing it back 2 back isn't gonna help the rebuild.

Im just in a bitchass mood right now. First I live in Orange County and it has been cold and rainy for 3 damn months. Im paying PREMIUM prices to live in great weather, and Im getting Seattle.Xramfan wrote Mon Mar 20, 2023 6:52 pm:Patience young Padawon….(in my best yoda voice)

Felt like that last week, but now I'm just not gonna get my hopes up and just wait and see what happens. I would always complain about Carr, so at least I have something new to complain this year.GUYDON wrote Tue Mar 21, 2023 10:26 am:Im just in a bitchass mood right now. Next, I wanted to go for it this season. I saw a path to Rodgers and several guys that could have helped the defense (wagner and others) to give us an actual shot at winning THIS year. Would I sacrifice the future to have a shot at a super bowl for a couple seasons? You God damn right I would.
After 20 years of pure trash and "building" I have no confidence anyone can build this team. Its a crap shoot. At least getting proven players at key positions, gives you a shot.
I will eventually accept the raiders arent going to be good this season, and settle in to my well worn losing chair.
But we had a shot. Adding Rodgers to this offense, and selling the house to get some good defensive players would have got us big wins, no doubt in my mind. But instead we will settle for wait and see as usual.
Our stars will be one year older this time next season. And a year older than that the next season while we wait for these mythical good draftees to develop.
Im just trying to get my mind around another losing season while our stadium looks like an away game because the apathy around this team is so high.
