Tucker's hands are OK, but can certainly get better. He's had some that he jostled before securing it, including one that was ruled a TD but it was really too close to call whether he had it before stepping out of the EZ. Not a guy you're scared to throw to, but also not a guy you're expecting to make the tough catches consistently. It seems he has the work ethic to get better though.Goodtimes333 » Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:45 am
Tre Tucker is another piece that's lining up as the Raider way with this team that past great Raiders teams had. A burner that's so fast the tape doesn't do it justice as he's flying by you in a game.signal » Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:47 am
I love his speed to get separation down the field by simply outrunning CBs. I think more than anything he simply needs to further polish those nuanced moves and crisp routes that come with experience.chucker wrote Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:36 am:Tucker's hands are OK, but can certainly get better. When you say "the Raider way" you must mean the way we had it in the 1960's and 1970's with Al vaunted "Vertical Game" and "we will take what we want" and "dominate the opponent" and last but not least, "the QB must go down, and go down hard." All that is NFL history now, not just for the Raiders, but mostly for the league in general. The vertical game offense is long gone, replacedby the West Coast offense and all of its descendants. The vertical game with a speed burner "striking fear in the heart of the opponent" barely exists across the league now. Even Tyreke Hill often gets the ball in a crossing pattern. I grew up on the 60's and 70's style game and realized a long time ago that those days are gone and wanted Al to modernize the Raiders offense. He finally (reluctantly) acquiesced with the brilliant Gruden- Gannon offense that set all kinds of records.Goodtimes333 wrote Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:45 am:Tre Tucker is another piece that's lining up as the Raider way with this team that past great Raiders teams had. The pass rush and defense as a whole becoming consistently vicious & tough to even move the ball on. Let alone score on.
Multiple backs able to gash people in the ground game, seeing Jacobs do it at times this year & White showing he can do it. Hopefully the next OC runs a two/three headed monster ground game approach

It's simple economics.RunOverByHubbard wrote Sun Jan 14, 2024 1:33 pm: I grew up on the 60's and 70's style game and realized a long time ago that those days are gone and wanted Al to modernize the Raiders offense. So, while I can be nostalgic about the "Raider Way," I don't want to try to bring it back.

I vote for this. Unless we can get a QB in the first.Dark Horse wrote Sun Jan 14, 2024 5:49 pm:ADD ROME ODUNZE!!!

I have felt this way for a while but I thought I'd get flamed for bringing up the idea of drafting another receiver hahaha. Renfrow and Carter will be gone so I wouldn't be opposed to it. There's some really fun late rounders also.WolfRaider wrote Sun Jan 14, 2024 7:43 pm:I vote for this. Unless we can get a QB in the first.
AD Mitchell, Franklin and Thomas in the second if we miss out, odds are one drops.
Adams
Meyers
Tucker
Rookie
Carter

Agree. Another returner/speedster type and a true big possession type. Either of those would be good by me.Ismail86 wrote Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:22 pm:I have felt this way for a while but I thought I'd get flamed for bringing up the idea of drafting another receiver hahaha. Tre has more upside than Waller and Mayer is a tougher TE than Waller but what did McZ know? rightRunOverByHubbard » Wed Jan 17, 2024 9:55 am
I started thinking more about "the Raider Way" and "speed kills" things mostly associated with the great Raiders teams from the late 1960's into the late 1970's. How many great WRs did we have that were also "speed demons?" Not many.Xramfan » Wed Jan 17, 2024 10:22 am
several years ago I was at that hotel near the Oakland Airport. (Hyatt maybe). Anyway I went to the bar to grab a beer and there was one man sitting at the bar that was otherwise empty. We said hello and then i noticed his ring. He saw that I was looking at it and he stuck out his hand and said, “Morris Bradshaw, nice to meet you”. Nice guyRunOverByHubbard wrote Wed Jan 17, 2024 9:55 am:I started thinking more about "the Raider Way" and "speed kills" things mostly associated with the great Raiders teams from the late 1960's into the late 1970's. Warren Wells -- I was lucky to see him for a couple of years. He was very fast, but his other attributes might have been why he was so damn good.
Cliff Branch -- Exhibit A for what we think about, partly because Al Davis talked about it all the time, as in, "stretching the field" "speed kills" and "strike fear in the heart of the defense." It worked.
After Branch, we had a long list of very fast WRs who didn't do much such as: Morris Bradshaw, Calvin Muhhamed, Malcolm Barnwell, Dokie Williams, Jessie Hester, Rocket Ismail, Willie Gault, Johnnie Morant, Carlos Francis, DH Bey, and finally Henry Ruggs. None of these struck fear in the heart of defenses, although Ruggs might have eventually been that guy.
I left Tim Brown out as he ran a 4.3 out of college but after he tore up his knee in his second year, he became a great possession receiver and zone buster (check out his avg. yards per reception).
The "Raider Way" is a legend. Tucker is not bringing it back. But, you do need speed and having a burner in your WR group is essential.

Good story. I met Warren Wells nephew once. I told him to tell his uncle how much my friends and I loved his work as a Raider and we still had great memories of his great catches and TDs. He said he would. I believe Wells died about two years later.Xramfan wrote Wed Jan 17, 2024 10:22 am: several years ago I was at that hotel near the Oakland Airport. (Hyatt maybe).
