Like I said, it was not bad, I have tried them twice. It is not something that I would seek out but I get why it is a thing. And it is not just "hippies" who are interested in this product line.rich72 wrote Wed Sep 13, 2023 12:44 am:All of that beyond BS food is going down the tubes, no one wants to eat that shit. Plus its more expensive and tastes awful. Sorry Hippies, I love meat.

I don't know man. Soylent Green keeps popping into my head.Attyla wrote Wed Sep 13, 2023 4:54 am:Like I said, it was not bad, I have tried them twice. It is not something that I would seek out but I get why it is a thing. And it is not just "hippies" who are interested in this product line.
I am actually more interested in the "lab grown" meat stuff. If what they are claiming is true, it is like a 3D printer but it makes meats that are exact. That has world hunger solution written all over it. As soon as those hit the market, I will certainly give that a try

that was mostly just grafting and such I believe. This would be copying the codes to produce "meat." I would certainly try it, and while it would likely be a bit more expensive, the idea that it might just be the right time technologically is intriguing to me. It is along the same line as electric cars. I was in the market for a new set of wheels this year and did the homework on EV's. The technology is just not there yet so I went another route, but if they get it figured out I would look at them. But the technology for hydrogen cars which I was really hoping would be the next thing kind of fizzled out. I still think that might be the next thing if they get some of the bugs worked out. I am a tech guy, not that I know tech, but I love new tech so that is what I enjoy as a hobby. Lab grown meat is just another tech for me, as was the impossible whopper. Curiosity is a fun thing when it comes to this stuff.raiderboyron wrote Wed Sep 13, 2023 7:04 am:I don't know man. Soylent Green keeps popping into my head.
Reminds me of an article I read about apples. Today's trees produce fruit that have up to 7 times less nutrients than the ones our older generations (me included) ate. Genetically engineered stuff and all.

I don’t trust any of it. I have been working on going more organic with grass fed and a bunch of other stuff. I am not of the belief that you can make meat in a lab nor do I trust chemicals to make plants taste like meat.Attyla » Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:51 am
Just because someone does not believe a thing does not mean it is not real.Raidernation1979 wrote Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:34 am:I don’t trust any of it. Not sure where I said it isn’t real. They are making some thing and they are calling at meat. I just don’t want it.Attyla wrote Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:51 am:Just because someone does not believe a thing does not mean it is not real.

um....you actually said you do not believe they can make meat in a lab. That is the very definition of saying it is not real.Raidernation1979 wrote Wed Sep 13, 2023 9:00 am:Not sure where I said it isn’t real. They are making some thing and they are calling at meat. I just don’t want it.

I also said they are making something and calling it meat. You can continue to trust what is coming out of these labs all you want. I've had a couple, the first was really good the second was dry and not very good. I just wanted to try it, yeah it's like a $1 more and if they can overcook it to end up dry, I don't need to take that chance with a rando BK cook. I feel if you ask you owe it to yourself to try, it's not going to come out like something in left-field, it's very palatable.KillerRaider30 wrote Wed Sep 06, 2023 12:34 pm:Has anyone ever had a impossible whopper from Burger King or know anyone who has ever had one?

Similar. I went with classic comfort when I bought my new car. It is also fast as hell, which my lead foot likes. As for meat alternatives, black bean burgers are pretty decent, impossible meat is a mixed bag but not bad like I said. The lab created meats are interesting and I will try them once they hit the market. I know they have been deemed safe for human consumption as they are made from real animal cells. Not a chemical, but growing actual animal cells. This technology is vastly interesting from a medical perspective. If we are close to the days when we can grow actual human organs it will be life altering. Imagine getting a new pancreas if yours has cancer.SkullCrusher wrote Wed Sep 13, 2023 9:36 am:I've had a couple, the first was really good the second was dry and not very good. I do like the idea of moving away from beef, I like the idea of an electric car. But I just haven't been able to feel comfortable or ready to do so. I do have a hybird and it's sweet getting 50 mpg's, make's $5 a gallon gas feel like the late 70's where a car got you 10 mpg's and gas was a $1/gallon. Same exact cost looking at it that way, so that is turning the clock back in its own way.
I do know I'm not afraid of change and there is no reason to attack things like this, to me it's a sure sign you have grown old and grumpy as we all still have an option to eat meat or buy a gas car.

I prefer the Impossible over the Beyond burgers. Beyond for me has a bit of a funky after taste. Don't get me wrong, I love grilling my "real" 80/20 lean burgers but like to switch it up and the Impossible is not a steep drop off. Regarding lab cultured meat - it will be mainstream in 25 years out of necessity. Definitely understand the skepticism and reluctance to partake. It's not much different than current CAR-T therapies for certain types of cancers which will one day greatly reduce the need for chemotherapy by culturing, harvesting, and mass producing the best of the best of your own immune cells to fight your cancer. Lab cultured meat takes real meat cells, assesses which have the best characteristics and replicates them. Okay, I guess that sounds Matrix-y but my experience is that the people working on this stuff have high ethical standards.KillerRaider30 » Wed Sep 13, 2023 12:27 pm

I grow and can my own veggies. Have a buddy who has a cattle farm. I buy a cow off him every year. A hog every year. And trying to find a good guy to get chicken from. Everyone I know with them just have laying hens. Want to get an area fenced in for goat in the next year or two. Just like with cars. I just prefer the old way. Preferred pre 73. But will go to mid 80s. Depending on the car. Don't want all the computer stuff on it. And if I have to I can run moonshine in it. Not ideal. But if done right it'll work when the world goes to hell in a hand basket. Next project for that is some bug out landhaji81872 » Wed Sep 13, 2023 7:24 pm
There is not and never will be a day where I do not eat cow or pig. Won't even bother trying anything else because it will quite simply never be as good.
