That’s the same feeling I have as well. Hopefully they keep adding players like this. High IQ & work ethic so, that you can take that chance here & there on the risky players. Usually being some kind of head case or lower work ethic but high talent.chucker wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 2:36 pm:I've said all along that I expect effort to be at a new level this offseason. https://twitter.com/VicTafur/status/1762961991998537849

I agree with you. Was just commenting how I disagree about when games are won. I dont think he meant it that way, I think he meant he won’t destroy their bodies in the offseason.chucker wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 2:21 pm:I don't think anything sloppy or low effort will be tolerated in practice. From the moment he took over players talked about practices emphasizing competition and rewarding effort.

the games won in September starts in January. But winning those games in September are also won in the moment. He was using a cliche to make a valid point that the games are won on the field. He was not dismissing preparation. He is obviously preparing now to win in September. Those were motivational words and he is quite the motivator and uses that fuel to keep his fire red hot. I don't really have a problem with it as long as those wins do, indeed, happen. If we win next year, he can say you don't win by shitting in your hand. I will just make sure my hand is shitless.Raidernation1979 wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 3:31 pm:I agree with you. Was just commenting how I disagree about when games are won. All conjecture. I was just commenting the phrase and I’m paraphrasing “games aren’t won in the off-season” is inaccurate. Based on that clip we can’t possibly know what he meant though if you read my post at all you’d see I think he didn’t mean it quite the way it came out also.Attyla wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 3:51 pm:the games won in September starts in January. not conjecture. No head coach thinks that preparing for the regular season starts in September. H e was not saying that you can just waltz into the season without preparing your guys. I think you are fighting windmills.Raidernation1979 wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 4:02 pm:All conjecture. I’m not fighting anything. Yes what you’re saying is conjecture. You can’t possibly know what’s going on his head. You’ll notice I left it open even saying I don’t think he meant it the way it sounded. Yet here you are as usual trying to definitively argue something you don’t know.Attyla wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 4:08 pm:not conjecture. Seems like a really sharp guy. I take it as if the season is long (now one extra game) and you don't want to go overboard in July with the physicality aspect of TC. Don't blow your wad in July if you will.

The Raiders were competitive in every game they played under AP last season but having a rookie QB and rookie Offensive Coordinator thrown into the fire mid-season held the team back. Bringing in more talent on the roster and having a whole off-season should help tremendously and I think that's the logic the Raiders organization is banking on.GUYDON » Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:28 pm
He talks the way I want the Raiders HC to talk. I'm super excited to see the way this team plays for him this year. He talks like old school Raider fans used to talk together. Most of Raider Nation went super soft and "woke" as they say. AP ain't that. He is about smash mouth football. I love it.16 to 88 » Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:37 pm
Yeah, that is a very good point.Raider727 wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:02 pm:The Raiders were competitive in every game they played under AP last season but having a rookie QB and rookie Offensive Coordinator thrown into the fire mid-season held the team back. Add in the fact he went 3-1 in division gamesSir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 1:31 pm:The 5-4 record as Interim HC (including a road win over the Super Bowl champs) would suggest he's figured out at least some of it.

sure chet, keep telling yourself that I do not know that a coach knows preparation in July matters.Raidernation1979 wrote Wed Feb 28, 2024 4:46 pm:I’m not fighting anything.
