I only work here, I didn't write this stuff.riseNraid09 wrote Tue Apr 16, 2024 11:33 pm:Im not understanding what "organizational hurdles" Williams would have to "overcome" himself? Williams only job will be to learn the system, develop and perform. We are referring to the team that will be surrounding these rookie QBs upon arrival. Chicago, compared to Washington and New England, has a far better surrounding cast, and a coaching staff who has been prepared for their offense to be Williams led. Washington and New England are baron when it comes to talent. Sure, you could always pick a better landing spot for someone but, realistically, he's getting the best scenario out of the top 3 by far.

I wouldn't.GUYDON wrote Wed Apr 17, 2024 3:27 pm:As far as O'Connell , I like the kid and wish him the best, but I would be shocked if he ever starts for this team again, baring injury to another player.

That’s his issue. The only he works is if he does become the second coming of Tom Brady.Rabid Raider wrote Wed Apr 17, 2024 7:20 pm:The thing is Penix can move. Qbs need to move to pass and even run for critical 1st downs at times . AOC is practically immobile. I like AOC but he's just not the guy to take the team deep into a playoff run.
Dark Horse » Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:08 am
That speaks to Pickett's ineptitude, not AOC's greatness.16 to 88 wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 12:42 am:I wouldn't.
I remember a video JT did about Adain and he stated somewhere in the video (paraphrasing here) "I just had a video about Kenny Pickett and he wasn't doing any of things that O'Connell is doing here". The very Kenny Pickett that the steelers wasted a 1st round pick on and shipped off just 2 years later.

I have no way of knowing how TT has any of these players evaluated. If TT really likes Penix I will have no problem with the pick whatsoever.chucker wrote Wed Apr 17, 2024 4:20 pm:Mac Jones was the best rookie in his rookie year. We should get that guy to start. Why settle for #2?
Based on how I expect the draft to fall, I want us to draft Penix and I want the best guy to start. If we draft Penix, I wouldn't be shocked by either O'Connell or Minshew starting the season as the #1. It takes some pressure off the rookie to do it that way. Either O'Connell or Minshew can win games for us so it's not like we're rolling out a completely washed Matt Schaub in the interim. I don't care who our QB is, just move the ball and lead us to TDs - but usually a first round rookie ends up with the starting job during his rookie year.

Yeah, you gotta love this time of the year!GUYDON wrote Wed Apr 17, 2024 1:53 pm:So Walter football says the Raiders could take a QB at 13 or they could take another player
Fantastic reporting going on in 2024. Lol
Opoponax50 » Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:53 am
Same here. Sticking at 13 and drafting OT isn't the most exciting thing in the world, but I'd rather have a good overall team than an exciting couple of minutes in one round of the draft. Also, if we do end up taking a QB at 13, I hope the team is willing to sit him for a year or even longer if that's deemed necessary. I don't see how sitting for a year hurts anyone. In our case it's especially true seeing as how our current OC managed to do exactly dick with the last highly touted rookie he was in charge of.signal wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:40 am:P.S. My gut tells me the Raiders are not going QB early, but I don't know shit....just have a feeling. But have no problem with it if that is how it turns out.

He's not fat anymore. He's awful though, so I agree on that. The Condor wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:50 am:Yeah, you gotta love this time of the year!
Still, it could be worse; say a Bill Williamson puff piece over at S&B Pride, displaying about as much Raider knowledge and writing talent as my missus armed with Google and a Pen.
And that fat fucker gets paid for it! Thieving bastard.

I am perfectly fine with Penix not starting. There are many variables of why he should not start including but not limited to the condition of our OL, a new system and learning curve associated with his transition to the pro game, and the fact that we have 2 capable guys already in the fold. The last thing we would want to do is destroy this kids confidence and psyche. Patience sometimes pay off. I realize the clock is ticking and 4 years happens fast. I am not ruling out starting him (if his play forces the coaches hands) as we have to quickly ascertain whether he is a franchise QB.The Condor » Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:03 am
Wow, I didn't realise he'd lost half of his 370Ib weight!chucker wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 5:39 am:He's not fat anymore. He's awful though, so I agree on that.

The one thing I would add is ALL the QBs (and other players for that matter) are learning a new system this year. If the rookie QB is the one that picks it up the fastest then he should be starting. Of course, that is on the assumption he ALSO adjusts quickly to the NFL.RI RAIDER wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 5:52 am:I am perfectly fine with Penix not starting. That and the fact Penix would possess by far the best arm strength and deep ball of any QB on the roster. Still I get the feeling they won’t rush a drafted QB unless both Minshew and AOC falter. Clearly the Raiders braintrust thought highly enough of Minshew to hand him a pretty good contract so he’s got people in the building behind him.Attyla wrote Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:44 pm:Actually he probably would. The first thing a new GM and HC do is find their QB. If they target Penix, he is going to get every chance to be what they want him to be, their guy.

So now the Pat's GM is openly saying that the third pick is in play and if he gets an offer he likes he'll trade out of that spot. I don't really think we would be able to come up with the best offer, would we?Attyla » Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:20 am
I keep hearing the hype that if Daniels is sitting there at 3 Pierce will try to convince Telesco to pull the trigger. I honestly do not buy it.Jeevo wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:11 am:So now the Pat's GM is openly saying that the third pick is in play and if he gets an offer he likes he'll trade out of that spot.
