The people whose opinions I value the least are the ones who are planting their flags with high certainty.signal wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 8:18 am:Yes, it is almost impossible to say anything close to a certainty about most of these players coming out of college.
There has even been universally agreed upon "can't miss" players that never make it in the NFL or are very ordinary at the next level.
We are simply guessing right now, and I suspect even those getting paid to evaluate players who have mounds and mounds of info know deep down they are too.

Harrison Jr is about the only guy who is "can't miss" in this draft. And we all know how quickly WRs can diva out.signal wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 8:18 am:Yes, it is almost impossible to say anything close to a certainty about most of these players coming out of college.

I am not sure which I am more positive about. The next great QB or the weather 3 years from now. Its fun to talk about (entertainment during the lull), but we have to be real that anything can happen. Football prospects (especially QB's) are much more difficult to pigeon hole for stardom than other sport prospects. This is why I am starting to think that it would be wise to take more bites out of the apple and drop down in this draft.CWood24 » Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:13 am
I value people who actually have an opinion instead of basically sitting on the fence & calling others out for theres, the people sitting there telling “you don’t know” what gonna happen feel a bit pious to mechucker wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 8:55 am:The people whose opinions I value the least are the ones who are planting their flags with high certainty.

Brees was a deep ball artist until he got near mid-30's where his arm strength regressed. This is the clear difference between him and Nix IMO.Attyla wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 7:54 am:I have no idea how he will do either. He is extremely accurate and a Brees clone in many ways. Brees never had a deep ball and he did OK for himself. If you do not have a deep ball, you need to be accurate as hell. Nix was that exactly at the college level. I do not think he is bust material, it will just matter how he is coached up at the next level. Honestly, Denver is a fit for him in that regard.

Nothing wrong with an opinion. Calling other people idiots for not sharing the opinion is different. You're not one of those guys.CWood24 wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:13 am:I value people who actually have an opinion instead of basically sitting on the fence & calling others out for theres, the people sitting there telling “you don’t know” what gonna happen feel a bit pious to me
We on a forum to discuss things & so why not throw our opinion out there on who are out guys

Not really, and it was the big knock on him coming out, Brees got better over time, but he never had a deep ball that was anywhere near great. His skills were all about the intermediate passes and his great vision/football IQ.heavyD wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:17 am:Brees was a deep ball artist until he got near mid-30's where his arm strength regressed. Often that is a great plan if you can find a proper partner.RI RAIDER wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:02 am:This is why I am starting to think that it would be wise to take more bites out of the apple and drop down in this draft.

Penix Jr. to visit 5 teams, including the Raiders:CWood24 » Fri Mar 29, 2024 11:36 am
I think Brees is the ceiling for Nix but i personally can’t see itAttyla wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 11:16 am:Not really, and it was the big knock on him coming out, Brees got better over time, but he never had a deep ball that was anywhere near great. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion. The problem comes when some people (and I'm not referring to you specifically or naming any names, for that matter) state they know more about football than the rest of us and/or have never ever been wrong, and therefore we're all idiots unless we agree with them.CWood24 wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:13 am:I value people who actually have an opinion instead of basically sitting on the fence & calling others out for theres, the people sitting there telling “you don’t know” what gonna happen feel a bit pious to me

I understand that people like to compare every QB they don't like to Carr but this one is rough. Nix is far above Carr from where Carr was coming out from an accuracy, leadership and mobility standpoint (even before his injury)CWood24 wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 11:36 am:I think Brees is the ceiling for Nix but i personally can’t see it
To me he is more of a Carr/Cousin without the arm strength which might blind me some on watching & wanting
I personally like Penix & think way to much is being made of his rushing stats
Attyla » Fri Mar 29, 2024 11:54 am
I agree, Nix hitting Brees level is low, and I also agree he is in the mode of Carr. But the scouting report on Nix is almost identical to Brees. Where Brees sets himself apart is football IQ. He could read a defense like none other. If not for a bonehead no call by the refs, we very well might have seen him with 2 rings.CWood24 wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 11:36 am:I think Brees is the ceiling for Nix but i personally can’t see it

My favorite thing about Brees was the chargers gave up on him and said he would never come back from his shoulder issues, basically how much he made them regret that. lolAttyla wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 11:16 am:Not really, and it was the big knock on him coming out, Brees got better over time, but he never had a deep ball that was anywhere near great. Not me, like I have said in the past, I do not anoint a player that I want at all costs, and I welcome each guy and root for them until they shit the bed.AdamJoshua28 wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 1:27 pm:My favorite thing about Brees was the chargers gave up on him and said he would never come back from his shoulder issues, basically how much he made them regret that. lol
Back on topic, i have a feeling of dread that we are or a lot of us are going to be very let down on draft day, we are letting ourselves in for another huge letdown.
