That would be one way of looking at it. Another would be looking at, as JT has pointed out ad nauseam, the situation that college quarterbacks come into. Also, not sure why JT chose Pickett to point out but he was definitely giving Adian high praise that he was that good compared to another starter in the league on a better team. I also find it noteworthy that here is JT pointing this out sometime last year midseason, and several months later they have now shipped him off.Dark Horse wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:08 am:That speaks to Pickett's ineptitude, not AOC's greatness.

Wouldn’t trading up for Daniels be a massive overpay as you all had him as a Day 2 pick only about 3 months ago same with McCarthy, i mean i keep hearing that argument about Penix recently & he was rated a 1st round prospect until the Michigan game16 to 88 » Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:19 pm
He's going to sit for a year.Dark Horse wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 2:59 pm:YUP! Been saying, I don't think Jayden to the Commanders is happening. It's not just because there hasn't been a ton of buzz, it's because of the GMs former expressed low evaluation of him. How does one just get over that? I really think it could be Drake or J.J. And I don't think the Pats are locked into one QB, either. They have no skill players to speak of, so what is a rookie QB gonna do?

Being the armchair GM that I am with my limited understanding of the college and pro games, and the transition from one to the other, to me, trading a bunch of picks in hope you get your guy doesn't seem the prudent choice. The steelers just shipped off the guy they drafted in the first round 2 years ago and the 49ers shipped off the 3rd pick in the draft that they gave up a boatload of picks for this year as well.CWood24 wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:13 pm:Wouldn’t trading up for Daniels be a massive overpay as you all had him as a Day 2 pick only about 3 months ago same with McCarthy, i mean i keep hearing that argument about Penix recently & he was rated a 1st round prospect until the Michigan game
Personally i have Daniels as QB4 at best

Penix
Maye
Daniels

That's a bingo...Hellbound wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:31 pm:It's like logic goes out the window. After what people say on here about getting/having a franchise qb, they turn around and legitimately say that a team that's already in said position will trade out of that very coveted position. Why would a franchise give up that prime position to get their franchise qb? Because AP said everyone has a price? Doesn't make sense

According to Telesco, and looking at how they played last year, they are not "fine" at all. In that one interview the very first thing out of Tedesco's mouth was "the offensive line needs fixing". He especially called out the run blocking. So, no. The OL is not fine.AngryRaidersFan wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 8:38 pm: I don't understand this take that the offensive line is in shambles. ITS FINE! As far as cb it's not hard to add a decent veteran cb before training camp and or in the middle of the regular season. We did that last year and it turned out fine. Trade the picks. Get Daniels or Maye. I don't really care which

Joe Burrows, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahommes, CJ Stroud. Just four top 10 picks that have worked out very well recently.16 to 88 wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:38 pm:Being the armchair GM that I am with my limited understanding of the college and pro games, and the transition from one to the other, to me, trading a bunch of picks in hope you get your guy doesn't seem the prudent choice. Think about that, 2 organizations that are pretty solid organizations when it comes to football, an HC on the 49ers that should know all about quarterbacks, and both whiffed on those picks. As for Daniels being #4 best in the draft you could be correct. But the boards I frequent have never had him below Penix and in fact have him as the #2 prospect in the draft over Maye. Penix currently sits at the top of the 2nd where a month ago they had him at the bottom of the 2nd.

Next time someone tries to say what about Penix in his final game vs Michigan, ask them how Stroud did in his final vs Michigan..CWood24 wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:13 pm:Wouldn’t trading up for Daniels be a massive overpay as you all had him as a Day 2 pick only about 3 months ago same with McCarthy, i mean i keep hearing that argument about Penix recently & he was rated a 1st round prospect until the Michigan game

Yeah, I totally get it and it is indeed the other side of the coin. I would contend three things however from my side of the coin...JTRaider wrote Thu Apr 18, 2024 11:47 pm:Joe Burrows, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahommes, CJ Stroud. Just four top 10 picks that have worked out very well recently.
Whether they were traded for or not is irrelevant. There is very likely a top 10 QB hitting the league this year, I want them to find him and it will be harder when the best four or five guesses are already drafted by pick 13.
It will be even harder next year when we are picking around 20, if this defense holds I think we see the playoffs this year. We have multiple draft picks and a pile of June 1st salary cap to improve the offensive line.

1.) I went back 20 or 25 years and posted the number of QB's that flamed out v. guys like you listed and the odds are staked against you finding these guys. They aren't in your favor.
2.) It is not irrelevant whether you traded for them or not. As a for instance let's presume the commanders take Daniels and he turns out to be a bust. Well, he was there for the taking they needed a quarterback and gave it there best shot and the only thing it cost them was the 2nd pick in the 1st round. If we trade away the farm to move up to the 2nd pick and he bust what is far worse? You already know the answer to that one.
3.) It's not likely that any of the top 3 teams will trade out because if they do and somebody selects the quarterback they could have had and he turns out to be elite they won't have jobs for long. That, and it's very likely cost inhibitive. Doesn't mean you can't as a for instance it was well know Davis was trying to move out of the #1 spot when he selected Russell, but it's not likely. But for arguments sake let's say the Patriots do. 2 of the quarterbacks are now gone so now you don't have 4 or 5 guys to choose from so you now the odds are worse.
And this presumes the Patriots trade out which is unlikely. If all 3 stay put you are now down to McCarthy, Nix and Penix. As you are well aware many a team in the past, many, have found and developed quarterbacks outside the top of the draft.

Seems like you wait for me to post and cook up a plan to be as obtuse as possible. We get it, you're scared to death to do what it takes to get a franchise QB, but not everyone feels like that. Maybe you really don't want to win, because in that case, what would you have to b◇tch about?
