Meh it’s all coach-speak at this point. They’ve gotta feel an overwhelming amount of pressure to do something at QB. If we miss out on the top 5 QBs there’s a real chance we have the worst QB room in the NFL by the end of Thursday night.DanKD wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 6:39 pm:In Telasco's press conference he mentioned not taking guys they are unsure about. I think if they take a QB they really like the guy. I dont think they will be taking any of the top 6 just to make sure they take a QB.

AO4 was 5-5 last year so more than 3 games is feasible.raiders93 wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:16 pm:Meh it’s all coach-speak at this point. Going into the draft with AOC and Minshew… and not drafting a QB in the 1st…. If it were Denver doing that I’d accuse them of tanking. If they actually went into the season with that and won more than 3 games… I’d mock them for being too incompetent to lose properly.
Our QB situation as it stands is totally untenable unless we’re trying to tank imo. If we don’t secure a guy we can try to build around this draft… we better make sure we’re in better position to get that guy next draft

I don't think our QB situation is a tank setup at all. Both guys did fine last year, and both can win games. Neither guy is going to put a team on his shoulders like you'd want your QB to be able to do. I'd call our QB situation somewhere in the 15-20 range in the league, with neither guy moving the needle but it's not Zach Wilson either.rich72 » Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:38 pm
Minshew could be like Gannon here also.STHfrontrow wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:29 pm:AO4 was 5-5 last year so more than 3 games is feasible.
Minshew won a few over his career but might be worse then AO4
Still not an inspiring QB room and I see your point. Best scenario is AO4 takes the next steps in improving.

15 to 20 range is very generous. More like 20 to 25 at bestchucker wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:30 pm:I don't think our QB situation is a tank setup at all. Count me among those who want us to draft a QB, but I don't think we're going to revert to a 4 win team if we don't add one.

Assuming the draft plays out the way it’s expected (bears, commanders, pats, vikes get their guys)… I have a hard time finding more than 5 QB rooms I wouldn’t rather have. Browns. Broncos (assuming they don’t address it). Giants. Saints. I don’t really know who else would have it worse.chucker wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:30 pm:I don't think our QB situation is a tank setup at all. Both guys did fine last year, and both can win games. The chiefs win was great but the other 4: giants, jets, chargers and broncos. Also… none of them had their starting QB when we beat them.STHfrontrow wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:29 pm:AO4 was 5-5 last year so more than 3 games is feasible.

Specific to next season only, I'd take Minshew and AOC over the Bears, Commanders, Pats and Vikes QB rooms whoever they take at QB. Rookie QB's usually do not play very well.raiders93 wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 8:07 pm:Assuming the draft plays out the way it’s expected (bears, commanders, pats, vikes get their guys)… I have a hard time finding more than 5 QB rooms I wouldn’t rather have. So you’re telling me you’d rather have minshew than Williams, Daniels or Maye?DanKD wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 8:36 pm:Specific to next season only, I'd take Minshew and AOC over the Bears, Commanders, Pats and Vikes QB rooms whoever they take at QB. Rookie QB's usually do not play very well.
Im willing to guess most everyone who is saying we have to do whatever it takes to get a QB will also declare any QB we take a bust when he doesnt look like CJ Stroud half way through the season.

For next season and next season alone, yes. It's possible on of those hits and outplays him, but in all likelihood none of them are any better next season.raiders93 wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 8:45 pm:So you’re telling me you’d rather have minshew than Williams, Daniels or Maye?

Outside of team and position they are extremely different. Gannon’s hardcore perfectionism had him exceed his natural talents. He was a tyrant and an unimpeachable “field general”. I like Minshew. He has the mental makeup to be the perfect backup, but he’ll never in a million years match Gannon.rich72 wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:38 pm: Minshew could be like Gannon here also.

I take you back to just one year ago were Levis was consistently mocked and on big boards in the middle of the first round and every team in the league passed on him and he made it to the 2nd selection in the 2nd round. Hooker was supposed to be a possible bottom of the 1st round prospect to top of the 2nd round guy and didn't get selected until 5th pick of the 3rd round. Every team in the league, check that, every quarterback hungry team in the league passed on him not once but twice! Even his own current team passed on him twice.raiders93 wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:16 pm:Meh it’s all coach-speak at this point.
