Exactly how I see the move. He signed a player who has NFL experience who in that case can be a good depth piece. Nothing more.chucker wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:15 am:We just signed a RG who was benched last season by our own OC. He knows the system, but I think he's signed as depth.

Indeed but unfortunately we live in the YouTube age of instant gratificationAttyla wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:13 am:The real problem with his posts is the notion that we are fine on the line. While it is not horrible, we are not fine. But, that being said, a couple day 2 pick ups would go a long way. As for our most recent pickup, he was horrible last year, and that comes from a guy who watched him a lot in college and was pulling for him all the way.
As for this mystery QB? I have no idea who he is talking about but I am fine drafting a QB who falls to us at 13 and move on. Either Penix or Nix is likely to fall to us, grab that guy, sit him and let Minshew do his thing next year. Or O'Connell if he beats him out. I do not think that is wasting a season, I think that is called development.

Good post. I am sure they are hoping they NEVER have to play him, but they may have to break the glass. Our OL is dog shit. We need help or AO/GM and Zeus will be TOAST. Nobody is expecting us to be world beaters on the offensive side of the ball. However, if we can put a few more points on the board coupled with our D, we can surprise teams.chucker wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:15 am:We just signed a RG who was benched last season by our own OC. I like both AO and GM. They are not long term answers, but they can hold the fort down until we get that guy (whoever he is). If we are being honest, we have to come to the realization that we may not get that guy this season. I am fine with that so long as we draft well and are effective building the team from the outside in.chucker wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:13 am:I like O'Connell more than some people do, and I root for him because he showed toughness and he's a Raider so I get where you're coming from. I'd still prefer they drafted a QB higher to give a better chance of getting one who's "the guy". I don't think there's any chance Penix drops to us at 44, and I think there's a slim chance that even Nix, who I don't really want anyway, falls that far.

I don't think our oline is dogshit. I also don't think we have a difference maker on the oline aside from Miller. Parham and James are fine, but both pretty mid. I think Munford will be good but is still developing. I think they see him as a tackle but maybe a guard - regardless we have one very weak spot on the right side. Meredith is no more than depth IMO. Same with Whitehair. One proven quality RT or RG added to the mix would be a big difference and would push depth guys out of the starting lineup. We have essentially zero depth at tackle.RI RAIDER wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:48 am:Good post. I am sure they are hoping they NEVER have to play him, but they may have to break the glass. I personally really like Pratt and Rattler, I can see one of them two becoming a good NFL QB. But I think that’s because they’ll end up going to a situation where they can sit for a year or two first.chucker wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:13 am:I like O'Connell more than some people do, and I root for him because he showed toughness and he's a Raider so I get where you're coming from. I want Maye Daniels or penix I don't really care which one.signal wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 5:45 am:Who is this unnamed rook you keep spouting about? At times I get the impression that this rook is more of an idea than an actual player.
Look, I see nothing wrong going QB early. None whatsoever. And I have no problem if TT thinks it is best to go in a different direction come the draft. I do think TT is a capable GM who will not be picking by position (stupid approach)...or even need but knows that he is actually picking players and hope he collects the best group of players he can in this draft because that is how you build a winner.

Sorry I misspoke. When I said we are fine I mean we are fine as far as attacking the position early in the draft. I do think we need to add depth and would be more then fine drafting a few o lineman day 2 or 3Attyla wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:13 am:The real problem with his posts is the notion that we are fine on the line. Well it should all make sense when you realize I wasn't talking to you.The Condor wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 1:33 am:Nobody is "scared" to do anything.
As a Poker player, I'm not "scared" to go all in, if it's the highest EV (expected value) play in a given situation - which is basically an exercise in assessing the % chance of success vs the cost of investment.
Some of us don't like the EV of giving up the farm in this situation. This position seems to be supported by historical data.
You disagree. Fine. But throwing around playground taunts like being "scared" and "not wanting to win" doesn't support your position.
At all.

I honestly wouldn't mind if we were to take Rattler. I'm not sold on any of the top 3 being "the guy". I think there is more of a chance they will be good QB's than being the next latest/greatest. The NFL has a way of weeding out hyped up players. Rattler seems like the kind of guy that could/might just be a very good NFL QB. Kinda like a certain 6th round pick we all learned to hate for years.heavyD » Fri Apr 19, 2024 10:23 am

The people talking to Hondo could be very well hyping up AOC, in the hope we keep him.
Either way, we’ve just got to trust AP and TT and the judgement
