It is easy to say "we need to get a QB." A lot of talking heads love to say, "They got to go out and get a QB.Attyla » Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:22 am
Justin Fields-not a fan, but if they will take a 4th for him, I would do that, maybe a thirdDarthRaider » Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:31 am
I have a really good feeling about Michael Pratt from Tulane in the draft. 2nd or 3rd round pick. He most likely won’t play first year in the NFL but reading his draft profile he should be ready at least his 2nd year…. And he’s mobile!Willmark » Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:50 am
I’ll add my thoughts to the ones listed later.MexicanHulk » Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:03 am
I haven’t watched film on all the QB prospects in this years draft but I’ll do quick & dirty QB option for next season.raiders93 » Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:14 am
For me:tatalalicious » Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:17 am
Agreed. The Raiders investing a pick in the early rounds (preferably 1st) is a requirement to me, not an option. Every other move they make flows from there. Look at the Packers and Houston these playoffs and the unexpected progress those teams have made in one season having found their qb. Look at the 49ers with all that talent on both sides of the ball and it still feels like having a Purdy (not saying he's terrible but just decent) at qb isn't maximizing that talent, same with TB trying to get away with Mayfield as their starter.Willmark wrote Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:50 am:I’ll add my thoughts to the ones listed later.
But at the high level? This organization needs to start investing heavily in QBs. Yes it’s going to be painful. Traditionally ( as in since our founding) we have not done that.
That needs to change.
And until this changes, we’re always going to be also rans. There is the QB position and then everything else. The gap is huge. Yes, football is a team sport, but one position above all else matters more.

Spot on. But our fanbase is terrified of gambling with a bunch of firsts to trade up.tatalalicious wrote Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:17 am:Agreed. I think alot of fans wanting to bring in options like a Fields is on the premise that he'll be good enough while the defense is made even better. I don't see this working, defenses in today's nfl even the best get exposed and end up getting scored on at will at some point, apart from a few exceptions. It's inevitable that the Raiders will have get their guy at the top of a draft, why not now with so many good options available. Fields and qbs like him in the market are available because they aren't franchise qbs.

If you're going to put Tyrod and Stick on the list of "starting QB's" don't you think it's fair to include Michael Pratt, Russell Wilson and Spencer Rattler?haji81872 wrote Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:08 am:It is easy to say "we need to get a QB." Easier said than done.
I am making this list based on a few assumptions.
1. We are not going to be able to trade up to get a top three pick.
2. Baker Mayfield will resign with Bucs, Cousins will resign with the Vikings.
3. Justin Fields will be available for trade.
Where do you go? Who would be your top three? Top five? I am sure I am missing some decidedly mediocre QB's so add them if you wish. I couldn't fit all of the below on a poll. I made the poll so you could vote twice.
Justin Fields
Bo Nix
Michael Pennix
JJ McCarthy
Jacoby Brissett
Gardner Minshew
Joe Flacco
Mason Rudolph
Jameis Winston
Sam Darnold
Ryan Tannehill
Joshua Dobbs
Tyrod Taylor
Dru Lock
Easton Stick
Carson Wentz
Jake Browning

I want a rookie QB (I really don't have a clear preference right now) but do want to add a vet on the cheaper side of things also. I think Jake Browning might be an interesting pickup to throw in the QB room with AO4 and whomever the rook might be.raiderkoch » Tue Jan 23, 2024 12:16 pm
Wilson and Fields(maybe a forth) fighting for a spot on the team with AOC4 and draft someone. Gotta get a lot of fighters in here and let the cream rise to the top!
