Davante Adams has had 355 targets in 34 games with 203 receptions.RI RAIDER » Fri Apr 05, 2024 4:57 am
I think Adams is one of the games best and his game will age pretty well since it is predicated on far more than just speed. That being said, I would have never traded for him and I would love to trade him and get some value back. This does not mean I do not like him . I appreciate the star power and solid veteran presence he gives the team. I just think having him is a double edged sword for a young QB. He helps a young QB with his ability but also demands the football which forces a young QB to go to him more than he should. Every time he doesn't get enough touches, he complains.signal » Fri Apr 05, 2024 5:15 am
Yes, like you I definitely see his value on the team, but for me he is simply not a piece that will be here long and because of that I would have liked to see the Raiders trade him for another player (hopefully one that would contribute beyond this year) or a decent draft pick that could garner that player who could contribute for several years and at a cheaper cost.RI RAIDER wrote Fri Apr 05, 2024 4:57 am:I think Adams is one of the games best and his game will age pretty well since it is predicated on far more than just speed. If we were to draft Penix, Adams could be a tremendous benefit to him as a young player. Given what the trade was for Diggs, I'd say we should just let Adams play out 2024 and likely release him after that if we can't come to a proper renegotiation. Adams is a good player, but the trade for him was a failure IMO - it was a waste of draft picks to try to prop up a meh QB. I guess, depending on how the season is going, a trade in-season is always possible to get back a bit of value.signal » Fri Apr 05, 2024 6:29 am
Yes, Adams may not have long term value but he does have short term value and yes, he will help whomever is behind center in 2024.chucker wrote Fri Apr 05, 2024 6:04 am:If we were to draft Penix, Adams could be a tremendous benefit to him as a young player. Adams helping develop other receivers is an underrated aspect. His releases off the LOS are where he shines the most, and that's also where young WRs struggle the most. I would be willing to give up a future pick if that's what it takes to draft a WR in round 2-3 this year to learn so we can be ready to move on from Adams in 2025.signal » Fri Apr 05, 2024 6:38 am
Damn, that exact thought came to me so I wrote a postscript only to find you making that same damn point. Damn you. ;) That said, I thought a later pick might do as well. Still would like to see the Raiders go RB in the third or fourth round because I think there are some in this draft that might be available that may help bring further talent to the present stable.chucker wrote Fri Apr 05, 2024 6:33 am:Adams helping develop other receivers is an underrated aspect. I heard an interview with Hondo and he said Tucker is a sponge and follows Adams everywhere.signal wrote Fri Apr 05, 2024 6:29 am:Yes, Adams may not have long term value but he does have short term value and yes, he will help whomever is behind center in 2024.
Tucker appears to be a guy who could develop into an important and dangerous weapon for the Raiders and hopefully, Adams is helping in his development. Adams knows how to play the position and has a large bag of tricks and hopefully he is sharing that with Tucker...because unlike Adams, Tucker is an important piece moving forward after 2024.
It would be wise for Tucker to develop further skills in regards to running crisp routes and sharp cuts that will help him gain further separation underneath and in doing so, it will only give him more opportunities to blow the lid off when he decides to go long.
P.S. And if you are going to have Adams for another year, it might be a good idea if TT can find an under the radar gem at WR late in this draft so as to give him a year to work with the mentor while he is here.

Definitely a good sign that he just might develop into a dangerous weapon.Nor_Cal_Raider wrote Fri Apr 05, 2024 1:00 pm:I heard an interview with Hondo and he said Tucker is a sponge and follows Adams everywhere.

Tucker could end up being a great pick and we saw nothing in year one to rule out an improvement in year two.16 to 88 » Fri Apr 05, 2024 9:34 pm
Certainly can't hurt.Nor_Cal_Raider wrote Fri Apr 05, 2024 1:00 pm:I heard an interview with Hondo and he said Tucker is a sponge and follows Adams everywhere.
