We give them Adams. They give us Lattimore and there #1. Deal.RI RAIDER wrote Thu Mar 28, 2024 10:04 am:Thanks Chucker (cap guru). I would love to get him as he is a STUD. Jones is a nice #2 CB but he is not a #1. If we can get Lattimore to join the party (putting Nate at the slot where he is ELITE) and couple that with our pass rush, I think we would give QB's fits.

Thanks for the share. I was wondering what the final details were in regards to his contract and yes, very, very, very reasonable. :)Jeevo wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:27 pm:https://twitter.com/kuhntristen/status/ ... 92045?s=46
Mattison contract is more than reasonable.

Interesting chart. It really demonstrates future cap flexibility.BoJacksonRules » Sat Mar 30, 2024 3:31 pm
Hopefully he excels in Pass Pro. If not, lame deal as we could have went with a late round pick, UDFA, or some of the backs we’ve been stashing away in recent years for some reason.Jeevo » Sat Mar 30, 2024 4:19 pm
Mattison has experience in the league and is more of a known quantity. A late pick, or UDFA, still has a pretty high bust probability, even at the rb position.BoJacksonRules wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 3:31 pm:Hopefully he excels in Pass Pro. Completely disagree. Mattison is garbage honestly and if there's any position where a late round or UDFA can win a starting job, it's at RB. I'd be surprised if Mattison even makes the team to be honest. He's that bad.Jeevo wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 4:19 pm:Mattison has experience in the league and is more of a known quantity. I don't think Mattison is garbage but, I think RB is the most easily replaced position there is. I just don't place a high value on the position because there are any number of RB's that can be successful in the NFL..... IMO.BoKnows81 wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 4:26 pm:Completely disagree. I'm actually kind of surprised the Saints aren't higher on the list. They have been kicking the can down the road for at least 20 years.chucker wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 1:55 pm:Interesting chart. It really demonstrates future cap flexibility.

What they gave him for what they know they will very likely get and what he can do v. a late pick/UDFA, this is the better way to go.

The Saints have been doing even stranger things lately as things get rougher. They started adding actual contract years at ridiculous contract levels, but they know they'll never honor those. So they can spread the signing bonus out, but if a contract voids then all the money hits as soon as the contract voids. Because they're adding actual years they can release guys with June 1 treatment and push the unprorated portion to a later year. They did that with Winston and Thomas this year.rich72 wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 11:48 pm: I'm actually kind of surprised the Saints aren't higher on the list.
