The Saints are a bottom tier organization. Their history consists of Drew Brees & a sick linebacker core in the early to mid 90's. Do not what the Saints doJeevo » Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:45 am
I’m basically where you are but the league seems to be changing their mind a bit on the position. They flew off the shelves early in free agency.Dr Death wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 5:07 pm:I don't think Mattison is garbage but, I think RB is the most easily replaced position there is. I just don't place a high value on the position because there are any number of RB's that can be successful in the NFL..... IMO.

Yeah I was surprised at how it all played out.Jeevo wrote Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:45 am:I’m basically where you are but the league seems to be changing their mind a bit on the position. They flew off the shelves early in free agency.

The teams that payed up for FA backs are gonna regret it. The Saquon Barkley hype has always been odd. He's no Ladanian Tomlinson, CMC, Derrick Henry type. Josh Jacobs sure as hell wasn't even close to the elite standard eitherheavyD » Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:03 am
I think Marshawn Lynch was the last pro bowl RB to win a Super Bowl so I’m not sure why RB’s were heavily prioritized early in free agency. I just don’t see Henry, Barkley, or Jacobs moving the needle in the playoffs for those teams as it’s their QB’s and defenses that need to rise to the occasion.signal » Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:40 am
I agree, but with a bit of a caveat.heavyD wrote Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:03 am:I think Marshawn Lynch was the last pro bowl RB to win a Super Bowl so I’m not sure why RB’s were heavily prioritized early in free agency. I still think running the football is important but it appears the best way to accomplish that is with a good offensive line and creative play calling. If you have that it seems you can mostly rotate various guys in and out.signal » Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:53 am
FULLY agree with this. The OL is the most important part of any running attack and would say that its importance in the passing game is under appreciated. The OL is the engine of the offense. It ain't as sexy as talking QB or RB or WR but I think everything begins and ends with the OL. If you don't have that in place, all your weapons are going to be running uphill trying to succeed the entire season.DanKD wrote Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:49 am:I still think running the football is important but it appears the best way to accomplish that is with a good offensive line and creative play calling. I think Henry will be a beast on the Ravens. That team is going to be a big problem for defenses.heavyD wrote Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:03 am:I think Marshawn Lynch was the last pro bowl RB to win a Super Bowl so I’m not sure why RB’s were heavily prioritized early in free agency. In the regular season absolutely but in the playoffs it won’t matter as teams will force Jackson to win with his arm so it’s something he will have to overcome himself.rich72 wrote Mon Apr 01, 2024 1:08 pm: I think Henry will be a beast on the Ravens. Here is hoping that we already have something lined up in our pocket, whether a trade, FA signing, etc. (maybe we have eyes on someone who has yet to be released). It has been very quiet and we have to many important holes to fill that can not be taken care of exclusively via the draft.Jeevo » Mon Apr 01, 2024 2:38 pm
There’s been a pretty decent correlation between the top reg season teams and good rush offenses lately. While the top few elite guys haven’t shown up on the last teams standing, McCaffrey is an exception, a lot of the final teams do have good backs. You absolutely need a good O line but putting above average backs behind them is a lot better if possible.heavyD wrote Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:03 am:I think Marshawn Lynch was the last pro bowl RB to win a Super Bowl so I’m not sure why RB’s were heavily prioritized early in free agency. Size is not an issue. RBs are devalued simply because the rules changes are dictating redistribution of funds. WR/QB/End/LT were valued up due to the rules changes. So now funds distribution has lowered the value of RB/LB which in turn has caused teams to find cheaper labor due to the management of the cap.
