How hard one is hit is subjective for the ref correct? Especially near the sideline. One ref may believe it unnecessary roughness while another may think it within reason. Not quite as simple as legal or notAttyla wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 12:32 pm:refs do not address actions of players. They call the game. If he is in bounds, hit him legally. If he fakes going to the sidelines and continues to run, hit him legally. If they want to remove that from the game, that is not the refs, it is the competition committee. But it is gamesmanship and I personally do not want people to remove gamesmanship from the game. You know he is going to do it? Hit him legally but him him hard legally so he thinks about it next time he does it. The key is legally, and that is coaching

I'm with you on Mahomes' feigning going out of bounds and then getting another 15 - but what should happen is that the tackler should be allowed to go at him full gas and if the hit ends up out of bounds because Mahomes goes from tiptoeing inside the sideline to outside it then the continuation of the tackle attempt should not be flagged. The problem is that they flag players for hits when their momentum was created with the player in bounds and there was no chance of reversing that the moment he goes out. And the flags definitely fly faster for a QB than for a RB in that situation.Xramfan wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 3:26 pm:How hard one is hit is subjective for the ref correct? Yep, thats my rant. If a QB has shown he will fake out LBs by pretending to go out but staying in, he should be a RB in the eyes of the refs and fair gamechucker wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 3:44 pm:I'm with you on Mahomes' feigning going out of bounds and then getting another 15 - but what should happen is that the tackler should be allowed to go at him full gas and if the hit ends up out of bounds because Mahomes goes from tiptoeing inside the sideline to outside it then the continuation of the tackle attempt should not be flagged. I don't even care about whether a guy has pretended to go out of bounds before, if a guy is near the sideline the defender needs to be able to do everything he can to force him out. If you want more protection then slide or go straight out of bounds and give up some yards. Guys need to be responsible to protect themselves as runners instead of having mommy do it.Xramfan wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 4:04 pm:Yep, thats my rant. hit him hard but hit him legally. If you get a penalty, make sure you hit him so hard his grandchildren hurt.chucker wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 4:14 pm:I don't even care about whether a guy has pretended to go out of bounds before, if a guy is near the sideline the defender needs to be able to do everything he can to force him out. This Billion $$$$ syndicate.....where everyone is raking in millions....even if you field shitty teams.....
Won't spend the cash to employ full time refs, even though they keep fucking with the rules every year.
Legit ponzi scheme.

I rewatched the index card call the other day...this time with the sound up, which I rarely do these days because as bad as the refs are, today's commentators are worse.....and I do not even know who was talking to be honest, but you could hear the disbelief in their voices.
