You could line up Offensive lineman to block since it's stationary until the kick returner catches the ball.chucker wrote Wed Mar 27, 2024 1:54 pm:The kickoff rule is gonna be interesting - every ST coach in the league has a chance to be an innovator. It seems like the kick returner with long speed will lose his role to the more shifty punt returner type. And it seems like the coverage teams could end up manned with bigger stronger guys with instincts as opposed to pure speed guys as well. More LBs/RBs fewer CBs/WRs.

Exactly. Everything changes. Special teams coordinators will earn their money this offseason and yes, the actual personnel of the teams both offensively and defensively will be impacted. I actually think that given how this play has changed you might also want to get the run game coordinator involved in the discussion because damn the kickoff now looks like a strange hybrid between the old kickoff and a running play. At least that was my first reaction to seeing it. Take the kickoff and a basic run play and put them in a bag and mix them up and this is what you would get.chucker wrote Wed Mar 27, 2024 1:54 pm:The kickoff rule is gonna be interesting - every ST coach in the league has a chance to be an innovator.
